Powermatic PM2800B Drill Press... table will not lock less than 12 degrees?!?

I recently purchased the powermatic drill press and this weekend I was trying to lock the table at 5-degrees but I wasn't able to.

If I move the table to 5-degrees and I tighten the bolt to secure the table, the table will slowly walk over to 0-degrees as it's being tightened. Anything over say 11-12 degrees there is zero walking.

I called Powermatic and they said it's not normal behavior, but they didn't have a drill press in the shop to verify. Their solution was to have me take this thing to a dealer to service... but there is no way I can move this awkward thing around without 3 or 4 guys.

Does yours do this?!

If you guys have this powermatic drill, can you please check it? If you try to tighten the table down at 5-degrees tilt will it let you? Or does it sneak back down to 0-degrees as you tighten?

I think I would try to get Powermatic or the seller/dealer to send a repair person to the shop. This doesn't sound  like the"gold standard" in customer support. Also, I believe [member=28483]iamnothim[/member] bought one of these during the last sale.

I did not have  a problem with 5 degrees, etc.
As you can see there is only one detent for tilt and that's 0 deg.  Notice that you have to back the locking lever out quite a bit to cear the recess for the zero detent.  After that the table rotates freely.

I locked the leaver first then the large bolt.  Hope this helps.

ps.  Glad I took the table off so I could see all the metal shavings.  Gotta look into that.  Thanks

does anyone have any info or it. or if its possible to import one to Greece?
