While I use grease when I occasionally use my hilti. Is it really required?
I'll leave it up to you to decide. I've never greased any bits. Nor do I know any contractors that do. It hasn't been a problem in the 24 years I've been doing construction. My opinion, don't waste your time, and you won't have the messy grease to deal with as a bonus.

Received my BHC from Tom Wednesday, put it to work today.
Very smooth, more than enough power for what I was doing.
I also got the Festool drill bit kit for it, very nice bit.
Yes, you must grease the bits. Very small amount of silicone high pressure grease.
Tom
Tom, we disagree here. If it was
required Festool and every other manufacturer would supply grease. I can think of a few that do, I remember seeing an unopened tube of grease in a case of a well used, fairly big Hilti rotary hammer. This was years ago and I'm pretty sure that same drill is still running today. I'd bet that same tube of grease is still there.
