I'm an Electrician so drilling into masonry, concrete and plaster is very common.

I burn up a cordless hammer drill about once a year. This one should last longer.

As a remodeler, I run into a lot of different situations that require holes in various hard surfaces.

That's from all that grease. [tongue] [big grin] Have you had better luck with the corded versions?

When serviced properly, the grease only helps the service life of the tool.

I believe the biggest issue with the cordless hammer drills is they were just the companies drills they added a hammer mode to. The BHC was designed ground up to be a hammer drill. The SDS chuck is the best proof of this.

I've gone through 2 Bosch Bulldogs. The larger Bosch root hammers are fantastic tools, never had an issue with them in my use. Problems with the units at the rental were few and far between. I currently have a Milwaukee SDS corded hammer drill, last model that was made in Germany.

I have a 9 year old Dewalt SDS that i use to tear tile up with. I rarely use the drill function.  Does the BHC have a hammer only function without rotation?

Nope, no hammer only function.

Yeah, I think we had this discussion when comparing it to the Bosch of similar size/weight/power. Shame.

I use my Metabo in the same manner as well, the scraping/chisel tools, while wildly expensive for a piece of sheetmetal bolted to a shaft, are a huge time saver.
