I plan to spray BM Aura Grand Entrance on MDF and was wondering how to prepare it. Will use a Fuji Q4 turbine. Should I spray shellac, or any other sealer? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks, your reply came just in time. I am at the BM store right now and that's also what they recommend is so I'm going to go with it. Once again, much appreciated!

No problem. Not saying it’s a bad choice, just curious why you chose benmoore grand entrance for final coat?

I was searching for a water-based paint that would remind me of European doors. Thus far Aura Grand Entrance comes closest, but am open to learning from others' experience. Any thoughts?

Also, in a more general sense, how would you finish MDF to have a (relatively) tough, glossy finish? Thus far I have only  used BM Advance and General Finishes products.

I personally would use Advance

What are you painting? Interior or exterior?

They’re products aren’t cheap, but you should check out Fine Paints of Europe.

I paint interiors and exteriors. I was referring to using advance for interior though. And I have heard of them but haven’t used fine paints of Europe yet.

I might be mistaken, but isn't FPoE oil-based?
