Price Increase

I've included the boom arm combo deal (includes free tool holder) and the package deal for the vacuum.  I would still like to see a little bit more discounted.  But who knows, we'll see what this year brings us.  At the rate I'm working on right now--been building a wall unit for almost 4 months--I won't need the new Festool tools until later this year.

I'd like to see a MFT starter clamp package.  4 quick clamps and a set of MFT clamping profiles for $200 or less.

my only issue with festool pricing is that a lot of the tools are priced fairly high but so is any other quality product so you get what you pay for, what i can't justify is the pricing on some of the accesories, like MFT-kapex not only are you paying 1500$ for saw with crown stops + tax now throw down another 1100$ for the stand? or a few drill bits 100$? i mean a sander with a motor, gears and multiple parts and a systainer is 175 (ets 125) and they want 200$ for a life bag for the ct22?  the ct 22(505$) with life bag(200$), handle(60$) + boom arm(250$) hose garage(45$) + cleaning kit(205) = 1220.00$ for a vacuum?
i understand festool makes incredible tools and i truly agree in paying for quality but drop the prices on accessories, we would all like to accessorize our festools with festool accessories but how can one justify spending almost 10 times more for them, will they last 10 times longer, will the drill bits not dull if you happen to hit a screw. I just purchased a shelf pin jig from rockler with a self centering spring bit with an extra replacement 5mm bit for $41.00 compared to festool's 5mm self centering bit for 62.50$ on it's own. while on site you can't just slap an lr32 system into an installed cabinet and route 50 shelf pin holes.
And while a lot of people who don't make saw dust for a living can go and  splurge on many of these accessories for their weekend project i don't think any trade carpenter is so eager to blow his weeks pay on a few drill bits, bit holders and vacuum bags.  I personally get about 10 to 20 uses per single ct22 bag until it rips while emptying.

Today, I went to buy a systainer 3 with ro150 abrasives insert and the price was LOWER by 10 dollars. This was up in Canada. Apparently the price decrease came into effect last week.

Happy times!

Today, I went and purchased the RTS 400 and the price was still the same.  I needed it for my current project.  I probably won't need any more Festool until my next project.  Hopefully, we will know about this year's prices.  I have a feeling the supplemental brochures means prices will not increase or decrease this year.

If something is more then you can afford, don't buy it.
I think that may have gotten a lot of people in trouble
here recently.

Arrrrrghhhh!  I just ordered clamps two days ago!

Thanks for sending that.  I'll be more diligent about looking for stuff before I buy next time.

I obviously can't speak for Rockler, but unless they have some stashed away (and they may indeed do at some stores) that clamp promo was on a "as supplies last" basis and most dealers have long ago sold out. Festool  does not carry it anymore. Again, perhaps some dealers (Rockler too) have some available.

I remember several years ago buying some towels from Bloomingdales and then noticing that they were on sale a week later. When I remarked on this to the sales assistant, she told me that according to law (maybe New York state law, maybe NYC?) she was obliged to refund me the difference if the sale was within a fortnight of the original purchase. That was a nice surprise!

Perhaps it may be worth following your purchase up with Rockler? At the least it is worth a phone call.

I didn't buy the clamps from Rockler.  I did see that they were sold out.  It just figures that some sort of deal surfaces just after you purchase something.  Market timing was never my forte'.

  John,

Some dealers may still have some in stock, but most dealers have sold out a long time ago.

Well, it looks like there more than likely won't be a Festool 2010 price increase.  :).

Sorry Bob - that could be bad news for you!! I have been holding off purchasing a Kapex and figured that a price increase notification would force me to make this a priority over things like food and stuff.  [big grin]  With the Euro struggling, doesn't surprise me that prices would hold steady for a while.

Pete, that was for everything EXCEPT THE KAPEX, WHICH WILL NOW BE $2600.00. [eek] JUST KIDDING FOLKS. ;D ;) ;D

Even Festool wouldn't raise prices 100%.  [unsure] No increase is almost like a sale, not quite, but almost.

For anyone living in the northern VA area, the Springfield Woodcraft has one set left for $180.  I have all the clamps and couldn't justifying purchasing the set.  Besides, it's not one of my favorite stores!
