On February 1, 2013, Festool prices are changing.

Some are going up and some are going down. Some inconsistencies are being corrected also. I calculate the average change to be 7.9%.

Here is a detailed analysis.

Tom

there are some shocking increases in that.
7.9 % overall  but 100% on a few and 110% on one.
loads of 50% and 75%

the only good thing on there is the extentions for the kapex. down from 700 to 500.

I see the table widener for the OF1400 is going DOWN from $131 to $75. This is an excellent accessory and much better-priced at the new price.

I bought mine at the old price and always thought it was too expensive even though I find it essential. Now it is essential and good value.

I wonder about Canadian price changes and what they will be.  The two high on my list to get hopefully within the next year are the Kapex and the Domino XL which are both going up, albeit not a lot.

Well it's a good thing I picked up a RO 125 in the last recon sale.

And I'm glad I bought my Kapex this year.

Man,  if Festool keeps raising the prices every year I may have to rethink some future purchases.  The next sander I was thinking about buying is the

LS130.  I know it's only going  up $10 making it $375.  But as a hobbyist,  I will just make due with the sanders I have now and keep an eye open

for a future recon sale or start watching ebay a little more often.  My Festool wish list just got a little bit smaller.  I'm definitely NOT buying a Kapex

Portable stand UG set.  I can scratch that item off my wish list.

But on a positive note, the prices on the systainers are staying the same. Plus a couple went down in price.   Which is great because I plan on putting

all my non-festool tools into a systainers over time.

It's a good thing I appreciate the quality Festool delivers.  I may be a little put off by the price increase now.  But come June (my birthday month)  I'm sure I'll

forget all about it and would be looking into a new Festool tool of some kind.

I am with you..I like the fact they are maintaining their premium brand status, but this hurts. Sure am glad I made my own wings, and they're a heck of alot better than the Festool wings (that increased in price) for less than a third the cost. Well at least the c12 I need stayed the same.

Lord help us..I need a rehab program for my addiction.

Either they are doing very well and they know they can raise the price and keep customers, or they need some extra income.

Either way, I will still be waiting to make my next purchase. I would like to have a Domino and a CT Midi, but I will have to wait on both :)

At some point these price increases have to start affecting their sales... Some of the increases on abrasives are ridiculous. I can't believe the Kapex is going up again too, even if it is only $25  [sad].

Yep! But...The thing the Germans aren't quite accounting for with the American market, since they more familiar with a planned economic environment, is when the competition catches on and starts producing competitive products that folks here are willing to purchase instead. Let's take the miter saw market in it's current state. It's a collective joke, with nothing that even comes close to acceptable once you've used a Kapex. Then there is the Kapex, sitting there shining like a Beacon of hope for us all-at a price...But what happens when Bosch or someone else produces a saw with Kapex qualities for $800.

Markets always figure this stuff out, maybe not on our timelines, but they do. My feeling is Festool is completely ok with pricing out the hobbyist with increases like this, and I suppose going after the contractor only market?? Which is a shame, because most contractors are so set in their ways, good luck convincing them they should change to a new high-priced tool. Better off with hobbyist homeowners (tweenie types) if you ask me, they are the one with the cash to burn and willingness to try new tools.

Pricing can't continually go up, or I am out of the game. I love my Festool tools, but I love my principals more. A price increase when prices are already through the roof is just starting to make me feel like an idiot when I show other people I own Festool. Honestly, when people ask me what the Kapex costs, I lie (this includes my wife). It's becoming the Luis Vuitton of power tools.

[scared] [scared] [scared] [scared]

Now I'm extra glad I bought the discounted Kapex during the refurb sale. What a wonderful saw. So smooth and powerful and the dust collection is good too. I recently made legs for a rustic desk for an office setting and the 5 3/4" chestnut barnwood posts just fit inside the blade but were butter to cut.

Germany is the largest exporter in the world after China. I think they know what they're doing.
