Problem with a new T-15+3 - Stuck Chuck

all i know is what my dealer told me. he talked to festool himself. i also have read that other people are having the same problem. so maybe i am getting the wrong info. and if that were true why would festool not fix mine and send it back to me.

I just spoke with Lester, our repair department manager, and he said that we have only ever had 3-4 drills returned for repair with this issue. He said that there was likely a problem with one of the ball bearings in the chuck or an issue with the grease on those bearings being dried up for some reason. I'm not trying to discredit your dealer, but I think I probably have more accurate information.

I don't know the details of your particular situation, but there is absolutely no reason that we would not have honored the warranty and repaired your tool. If you still have it, I'd be more than happy to arrange to have a call tag sent immediately. If your dealer said that we wouldn't honor the warranty, I don't know why they would say that. In the future, I would recommend that you always contact Festool directly for service issues.

Edit: I did a couple of searches on the forum and I could only find one instance where a problem was reported of a chuck being stuck was reported and it was the keyless chuck stuck on the right angle chuck, not on the drill.

If it was a problem with the chuck, why did they just give you a new chuck?
Or am I missing something?

They put the chuck on a demo at the store and it worked fine.they said it was the drill.

I guess it's a bit of a moot point now, but if it worked on the demo unit at the store, I would have swapped it back to your drill to see if it still stuck after that. Also, I would have tried the chuck from the demo unit on your drill. What's important is that you're satisfied with the outcome, whatever it may be. If, for any reason, you're not satisfied with the outcome, please feel free to contact me directly.

the point i am trying to make is for 575 dollars i should not be having any kind of problem.i should not have to oil it or dip it in tranny fluid or have to worry about sending it back to get fixed. i have 3 dewalt drills and have no problems atall. i noticed the problem the same day i bought it, so why should i have to mess with it.anyway they allready gave my money back. the place i bought it from is in kc mo. they sell alot of high dollar tools there, and i think they are a good co. shane i am sure you know what you are talking about so i am not saying anything bad about you. i am going to wait untill i can get a new model t15. or maybe a t18. just so you know i think festools are the best there is and i will be buying lots more when i can. i love the ones i have now, would not give them up for any thing.and i am satisfied so far, also shane do you know if the new model t15 is out yet, or where i could get one.

Who's your dealer?

It's been mentioned a gazillion times already [tongue], sometime in the fall for the new model drills, C series, the T18 and the updated T12 and T15 drills.  including the .

No company can guarantee all their products will be defect free, whatever the cost of the product.  In my opinion Skinard you've made a song and dance over this issue.  The point is, once you contacted Your Dealer / Festool, they resolved the problem by giving you your money back.  Presumably, you were happy with that, I think most people would be.  I can't see why Festool were unable to carry out a repair on an apparently simple fault.
Also I don't understand why, if your Dewalt drills have been so good, and you think there is a inherent fault with the Festool drills, you are so keen to buy a new Festool T15 / T18.
I don't wear Festool tinted glasses when assessing their company products; they certainly aren't without their faults.  However, certainly for Festool USA, I don't know of any company that strives more for excellent customer service, and time and again goes above and beyond.  Well done to Shane Holland, certainly a star employee for Festool USA, in my opinion.  I live in the UK, so I'm not pandering to anyone.

i dont want to be misunderstood, the only option i was given was to get my money back. my dealer may not really know whats going on. and i am not knocking shane or any body else. so dont take me wrong, i love festools, i think they are the best there is. i am happy with the outcome. but i still want a new drill.i am bad about wanting the best of every thing. i will be a fesstool costomer for ever. and i know that every now and then you will get a lemon. i am not mad about any of this, or at any body. was just wanting to know if any one else had the same prob. any way i am going to wait for the new t18 or t15 to come out and decide then witch one i want..
