I didn't want to post this in the wishlist, because I think it is feasable, and marketable.  How about an adaptor that is Centrotec on the male end, and standard 1/4" quick disconnect on the female end.  This would allow for not only square drive in your Festool drills, but any and all regular 1/4" bits.  I would think we could keep the price of this unit around $9.99 usd.  Anybody else thought of this, or does it already exist?

I gotta think I'd sell a few if I could make it for $10 instead of $30, though....

Garry:

There are three ways to hold standard 1/4" hex bits within the Centrotec system... And that's just in North America.

I am pefectly happy with what comes with them, for holding my torx bits or anything else, works great.

I've used all three of them to drive thousands of screws.  They work well.

You might want to do a patent search...

Tom

I guess so.  that's why I was curious about a royalty for the use of "Centrotec".  I'll let the big boys work this one out.  I still don't understand why everyone whines about square drive, if there are options to make it work....

Garry:

I think the biggest reason is Kreg...

The rig you can get with the Festool offerings won't quite fit deep enough in the Kreg system holes to satisfy.

I use Domino and clamps but I completely understand why people want to use Kreg system either with or without Dominos.

Is this what you're thinking of bit holder

Yep.  Why all the whining about square drive if you can do it with that..? [embarassed]

Yes, you can use this with regular bits and end up with something that is just like all the other drills that don't have Centrotec.  If Centrotec isn't better, why bother.  For me, Centrotec bits don't wiggle in the drill mount.  Much easier to align to screws in use.  I LIKE Centrotec.  Using the adaptor dumbs down your really cool Festool Centrotec drill mount and makes it just as bad as the cheapo drills.

THAT'S WHY
