Prototype sysport design ( Finally made the real thing!!!!!! )

Did anybody ever thought of a complete transparant lid/cover?

Must be spectacular to see the nice Festool machines in their Systainers.

May be Waynelang can do some renderings of it?

Sounds like a nice idea......just need to find some time now to sit down and model the interior......................and some tools to go in it  [eek]

Hi guys, I updated the FOGtainer just a bit. I added the Tanos handle ( i could'nt find any detailed pictures of it so im not sure how accurate the model is ). Also added the barrel lock and got ride of the latch locks.

Oooh la la. Now that's fantastic.    [eek]    [thumbs up]      [not worthy]

Hi guys,

I finally had some down time the last to days so i got stuck into knocking up my sysport. As usual i didnt have time to take photos of the construction process.
Its a very simple design and i didnt get to involved in miner details like adding fancy fronts to the pullouts, but maybe when i get some more time i will make some, but for now
i can do without the fronts.

Please excuse the stat of some of the systainers, when i was working for a boss some of the guys thought it would be ok to use my tools while i was
sick in hospital for a few months. But im sure that when we get some FOGtainers in i will be replacing my festool systainers. Or at least the ugly ones.

The full extension runners give me plenty room to get into the systainers.

I cant remember who on the forum used dowels for there sysport, but i liked the idea so i used it myself. And it works really well.

There's a funny line in the "Wayne's World" movie that goes something like "I don't even have a gun, let alone many guns to justify a gun rack".

I feel the same way about systainers.  I don't own enough of them to justify a sysport.  But I am saving for some FOGtainers...

Great work as always Wayne!

I thought they were tool cases, not display cases. But nice work on the sysports, but the colour ........

Not so keen on the black then? [poke]

Indeed, not my taste.  [smile] I always prefer light colours, makes everything look more spacious. But everybody to his own. I'm sure you'll enjoy your sysports a lot after all the work you put in them.

Very nice Wayne.  Some acetone will cleanup those Systainers (the sharpie marker).  You need some new labels!

PM me if you're interested in some Photoshop templates you could print off.

Nooooooo!!!!!!!! [eek]

Don't use acetone on systainers, it will disolve the plastic. Even if you use it sparingly, it will soften the surface.

Wood_Junkie, have you actually tried this? If so, did it not cause any problems?

It will take the sharpie off, use very little and be quick about it.  Don't pour it on it, bad idea.

Yeah, sorry.  To be clear, use a Q-tip or cotton ball or something.  A quick swipe should take off Sharpie (pretty much any permanent marker) writing.
No, I have not done this on any Systainers-- I just know it'll take off "permanent" marker.

I dont think i will bother cleaning up the systainers............BRING ON THE FOGTAINERS PETER !!!!!!

The blue FOGtainer in the black sysport, pure beauty in my eyes  [crying]

There's a product called wax& grease remover used in the automotive industry. Won't hurt plastic what so ever. I don't know if it will remove sharpie but it removes everything else w/o damage to plastic, paint, upholstery and just about anything else. Great for disolving contact cement too. I buy it by the gallons.

I have wax and grease remover in my garage, I have a sharpie and a few systainers, I will see what happens.

My guess is, it won't take it off.

Wayne, you make us South Africans proud boy!!! You have talent sir. I love your sysport design (the very first pic you posted) I think I'm gonna borrow it if you don't mind?
I promise to post pics of the finished job. Might not be as big, but will definitely be as beautiful.

Good job

Wayne

Great job on the design - I really like the black contrast with the Systainers - true to your original concept!

I was the one that posted the dowel idea for holding them in place on a set I built some time back.  Saves wood and space, and ultimately weight for moving them around.

Thanks for sharing.

Try some Isopropyl Alcohol to remove the Sharpie's.
It should take the marks it right off without harming the plastic.

Hi Neil

Your dowel design is the best ive seen so far on a sysport, like you said it saves wood and works like a dream..........thanks for not copywriting it  [tongue]
