Nice one Peter, Im thinking of some ideas now to creat the FOG systainer...........Any thoughts on the look of it ?? ( Everyone feel free to chip in with your ideas ).

I would be up for 2-3 sys 2's  If anyone wants to start it

Shane?  Could you bring up the idea of a Fog group special edition run  of the Dk Blue w/ Green Latches??? (heck, instead of FESTOOL Systainer have it FOG SE Systainer and use the Tanos handles too [thanks] [thanks]

Here's a couple of renders - both have only been rendering for around 45 minutes, so aren't great at this point but it gives you an idea. I'll replace the pictures with the finished renders later today or tomorrow. these have now had a few hours, and I need my 'puter back!

Nice one Johnny, i think im going to try design the FOGtainer also, it helps keep me busy at night........and the early morning  [doh]

Johnny and Wayne,

I am jealous.  I play with labels, you render.  As you render, remember we need space to put tool labels - It would be tragic to cover up your work!  I have located a source for silver, permanent - ul listed labels.  White just wouldn't do your masterpieces justice.

Peter, will they fall off like the factory labels do?  [poke]

I don't know I haven't tried them.  [tongue] They are designed for outdoor equipment and installation on plastics.  Meet UL requirements for labels on machinery.  But that reminds me, I have to check with my "elite" group of label testers here to see if my first experiment seems to be going ok.

This is off topic to the original post, but on-topic with new and improved and custom Systainers.

The problem of labels falling off could be solved by a 0.5mm recessed and non-textured surface where the labels go.  It would allow better surface adhesion and protect the label edges from getting lifted.  Tell the siblings at Tanos.  ;-)

Just before i got on and saw your guys comments about the labels i was thinking about it already [tongue] stay tuned i have an idea that will keep the labels where they are and never have them come off OR ( BIG HINT !! ) out. [wink]

Jonny, I love your custom FOG Systainers! I gotta have a couple now. Great job.

EDIT: I think a good way to proceed with this idea is to have some dark blue Systainers made up and then custom labels like what McFeely's used for the FOG logo.

Labels would be cheaper I'm sure.  One reason for thinking about a solid background is that on a clear label a dark logo wouldn't stand out.  Also on a clear, you can't print white.  A white label would allow white but would stick out.  A silver would prevent white printing but would give glitz.  I bought a new add on to photoshop that I will play with again later.

Why is it that I am spending so much on software now and so little on Festool?  Hope that changes soon.

As an aside, I've just been on the Tanos website, and they have an ONLINE CONFIGURATOR where you can completely customise any systainer (or, with fewer colours available, sortainer), and add artwork to it, too!!!

Here are some screenshots. First, the overall view:

[attachthumb=1]

Once you've uploaded the images you want to add, you can then enlarge the images slightly:

[attachthumb=3]

Note that you can upload different images for each piece, so you can have one pic on the top, another on the front, text on the latches, etc.

Finally, it gives you a price for the customised item. Note that if you add artwork, it's a minimum qty of 50, and POA. If you want customised colours but no artwork, then it gives you a price straight away.

Good for wasting a few online minutes!  [big grin]

Edit: I'm guessing that the artwork upload is for direct printing (like on the Metabo/DeWalt/Makita systainers as per below) rather than for a stick-on label.

Maybe it's worth finding out a price for 50 with logos - I'm sure Festool US could organise it, and then sell them on to FOG members?

Peter, I hate colored backgrounds as a general rule. The get around the not having white on a clear label the color could be a very light gray instead. (Edit: maybe that wouldn't work after all.) I think Jonny's renderings show the logo stands out well on the dark blue background. My 2 cents.

If the labels were professionally made up they can do white ink.

Im busy, or should i say my PC i busy, rendering what i would like my FOGsainer to look like. Its not something that could be made up like the tanos website allows, but it might help out with the label issues if they ever plan on upgrading there systainers.

Pics coming soon, freaking slow pc.........................

Jonny

I love your renderings of the FOG systainers.  I would buy they in a heartbeat  [big grin]

Woodguy,

Me too! I seriously think we should persue this idea a bit further...

I have now edited my original post with updated renders, but it seems the forum software has reduced the quality slightly from what they were. But it still looks good [thumbs up]

If someone wants to post a jpeg of a different/better logo, then I can alter the model & render that. Peter?  [poke]

Johnny,

I sent you a high res of the logo you've been using via email attachment.  PM won't allow attachments.
