Quick staircase improvement

Client wanted wainscot look up staircase. They were on tight budget and couldn't afford true raised panel wainscot ,so this is an easy inexpensive alternative . I drew design on wall (chair rail & squares), had my dry wall guy skim coat wall smooth below chair rail and paint two coats of primer. Then installed flexible mouldings ( resin-art) for panel look with chair rail. Then paint, done. Easy and affordable. Done this technique a number of times on curved staircases with good results.
 
WOW! nice solution to a budget issue.

Looks great! I assume the flex moulding is cheaper in your area then mine, they want an absolute astronomical amount for flexible moulding making any cost savings in labor gone
 
That's a little different, the way the balusters change from three at the bottom to two at the top. It is hard to tell from the picture, but the width of the treads must vary.

good eye! Honestly I never noticed that...It was built by previous owners. And yes treads are pie shaped as they wrap the radius, then get rectangular on straight portion.
