I have some project ideas using 1/2" (12mm) plywood where a rabbeted or lapped miter joint would be a good choice.  There are router bits available from various sources that make this type of joint.  I have read about their use and understand that they can be tricky to set up.  I also understand that typically, the router table is the only method recommended for using these bits.

Here's the deal: I don't have a router table.  I was wondering if an OF 1400 or 1010 with the guide stop and support foot on my MFT/3 would be able to create clean and straight lapped miter joints?

Here are the bits I am referencing: Infinity Lapped Miter Bit Set

Thanks!

Are these joints for drawers?  Beyond that I have to say that a router table would be the best way.

They would be for boxes - such as vinyl LP boxes.  About 13x13x13 square.
Also, shadow boxes hung on walls for collectible items.

I don't have an answer for you, but I'd be very interested in how well your method works. If you proceed with this, please check back in and let us know how things went for you along with some pictures of your setup. [smile]

Just a heads-up, the setup block for 1/2" material is not included with the router bit set, but is sold separately by Infinity.

It's also interesting, that the boxes you're making will be used to hold black vinyl, as it was during the heyday of the vinyl LP, that JBL used this joinery method on their commercial speaker systems and it was also the method JBL specified for any DIY custom enclosure.  [cool]
