I bought two and some spare parts, so that's a "Harlequin" unit I put together as a gift for my son.

Waiting on the delivery of their new "Pocket Driver" today, which will trigger my laying out all my tools and working out which goes where as discussed on their forum.

Been there.  Took the COG to the top.

In the 1980s I went with a group of climbers to climb the “wrong side” of Snow Mass.

It was physically a bit demanding, but technically fairly straight forward.

While driving towards Pikes Peak there was an enormous black funnel over a flat span of vegetation. A tornado.  I knew that it was dangerous, but no amount of looking at it gave a clue to which direction it was heading.  I did not know if I was driving into its path or away from its path.  That was kind of spooky.

Of all the places I visited, Colorado (but basically Boulder) was my favorite. 

I looked in the papers to see if there was any job prospects for me there.  The only thing that I was remotely qualified for was a waiter on roller skates in Diner in Boulder.  So I came home to Long Island.

The “Santa Tracker” antennas are on Cheyenne Mountain, the home of NORAID. That picture is the south view from my shop, Pikes Peak is just northwest of the shop.

You're killing me Ron, that's a great photo. I'm a big rail fan and have always wanted to ride a cog railway but figured they were only operational in Europe.

So, for many years I vacationed in/around Denver every summer and usually spent about 10 days at Estes Park enjoying the outdoor camping in the mountains with my motorcycles. As a prelude, I usually stopped at Pikes Peak first and took a run at the mountain before I ambled on to Estes Park to settle in. I've climbed up Pikes Peak in a car, a Bultaco 350 Alpina, a Norton 750 Commando and a Bultaco 360 Pursang. Never once did I imagine there was a cog railroad option.  [crying]  That would have been a great experience as evidenced by your photograph.

Then again, I'm talking about years ago when the fee to traverse Pikes Peak was ZERO $$. I'm assuming the cog railway was up and running back then but that I was just oblivious to its existence.  [sad] [sad]  Had I only known...

It has only been in service since 1891. It was rebuilt a few years ago. A couple of friends came to visit last January, my wife and I took them to ride the cog.

Great answer Tom...  [thumbs up] ...I guess in those days I was more distracted in getting my fair share of Coors. At that time it wasn't available in the Midwest so that was always another reason for the yearly pilgrimage.

The Mount Washington Cog Railway has been in operation since 1868.  [smile]  That one's a fun ride, both up and down!

Comisky Park in Chicago. Both of them together, in a pic I took myself. We drove all the way there to see a game in the old, before it was demolished..... they were playing the Cincinnati Reds, which is the closest team to my home. Just dumb luck  [blink]
Then across town the see an Indians game. Bo Jackson was in the outfield for Seattle at the time.
