RAS dust port

What's the deal with the RAS not fitting the usual Festool platform. No plug-it cord. Weird oval dust port that barely fits standard hose. Love the tool, but I wonder what the deal is.

Old design housing so no plug it  (can find the kits for sale sometimes)

Dust port is like that on the dx93 as well, I think it is just an old design.

Yep, old design over 10 years old now. Festool tried to standardise production by using the same body for multiple tools like the RAS, PS200 jigsaw, DX93 and the old model RO150.

Festool left that path and gladly never used the oval dus port again. While it does work and the hose fits just fine if you squeeze it flat, I find it does come off more often than with a standard round dust port.

Most tools have been updated in the mean time, the RAS is one of the few which haven't.

Is there a hose adapter that can fit the oval to a standard hose snugly?  I have a bunch of 24-grit Saphir stripping work to do next week, and an adapter would be VERY helpful.

You don't need an adaptor.  Just make sure that your hose is pushed on as far as possible.
