I would be shocked if this hasn't already been covered before but I would like to ask if the dealer "registers" any new tool purchase with Festool, INC.
I purchased a Syslite yesterday at my local Woodcraft Store. As I made my purchase I asked the dealer if they register the purchase with Festool (i.e. serial number with my contact information). He said that I should send back the "card". Of course when i got home there is no registration card with the syslite. I was always under the impression that as you make a Festool purchase the dealer would take care of registering the tool with Festool.
The reason I ask this question is that I am under the impression that if your Festool is stolen, Festool will replace it for free. I must admit that I am not sure why I think this as it seems way too good to be true. Fortunately I have never had this experience but I am sure you need to have all of your tools registered with Festool for this type of "insurance", if it exsists.
Maybe someone could help set me straight.
Thanks!
John
