I have purchased tools at the 20% discount, some are in great shape and others not so much.  Has anyone have any pics or experience with the 30% off items?

I bought a 30% off RTS sander a few weeks ago. It had some very light scuff marks on the housing. Equivalent to using the tools a handful of times.

It did have one problem, the pad was not flat and it was promptly replaced by Festool.
Only when I removed the old stuff did I find enough dust to prove it had actually been used.
(Actually the pad that came on the tool looked new but the mounting plate was warped
so it warped the pad. Festool replaced both of them so it's now in very good working condition.)

I've bought several used Festools via ebay etc. In my experience a 30% of tool from Festool will be be in better condition than a typical used Festool from elsewhere.

Wood pulp, I just received a 30% RO150 tonight.  I was prepared to receive something that had seen some hard use, but since this isn't going to be a go-to sander and I'm only a hobbiest, it will likely outlast me.  My jaw dropped when I opened the box.  It appears as good as new!  I pulled off the dust extraction extension and peered into the body looking for signs of sawdust.  None.  I looked all over the body for signs of sawdust, none.  Only the cord looked like it had been used.  I doubt that this is the norm for a 30% tool, but I will say I was pleasantly surprised to receive something in far better condition than they describe (if not a flat out new tool).

My 20% TS 75 in t-loc came today. It looked brand new!  The box for the rail looks like it was pulled down from fresh stock and the systainer and all the contents don't have a spot of dust on them!

I will check it out in depth when I get home from dinner but it looks better than some new tools I have received.

Cheers. Bryan.

Our customers have high expectations for us and we aim to deliver on those expectations, even when it comes to reconditioned tools. The tools that you wouldn't want to see show up at your door aren't even offered for sale. So, the 30% tools are still in quite good shape. That's how we roll.  [cool]

I appreciate that. I bought a 20% off TS 55 req. I did not have the same experience. Mine was coated in saw dust, missing an accessory piece, t lock insert was cracked and there were finish nails in the systainer. It works though. The service dept did promptly send me a new systainer insert and the missing accessory. They insisted I keep the finish nails, bonus. So I was definitely a little hesitant on taking a 30% chance.

20% does include the tool being dirty potentially. We made the cracked insert (which may have been damaged in shipping) and the missing part right. So, we stand behind the recon tools too.

Any chance they will have more of the Kapex at 20 or 30% off any time soon?

The list of tools is fluid and can change. It's unpredictable. So, no idea. But my guess is that it's not probable this time around.

I will say that I have bought two 20% off items from Bob Marino and they were in phenomenal shape. The latest, my OF1400 looked like it had been sitting on the shelf and the vacuum port had been used. Everything else was super clean. The router, sander, and the OF2000 are great additions to my woodshop. Really impressed with Festool (not that I wasn't to begin with). Really really impressed with Bob Marino.

I was a little hesitant as well.  I had a similar disappointment with a 20% domino last year! But festool shipped out the damaged parts ASAP and all was well.  I picked up 2 more tools this go round and the 30% was the best of the lot!  I wouldn't hesitate to pick up more @ 30% if I can find any spare change in the couch cushions!

I'll chime in with my experience. I bought a 20% TS 55 during the first round and just took delivery of a 30% CT 26 today. My saw clearly has a used blade, there's plenty of dust around the teeth if not actual pitch. But beyond the blade everything else seems fine. Frankly, if I'm honest, I was a little put off at getting a used blade. I figured that should be an easily swapped out part. But 20% I figured I'm happy.

Fast forward to today and the vacuum. At the risk of being too complimentary there is virtually nothing wrong with it. It's cleaner than the saw was (and this is a 30% unit) and came with new bags and filters.  There are 2 1" scuffs INSIDE the hose garage. Seems like something that would happen by shoving the hose in normally.

So my tally for this year's sale (because I'm tapped for this time!) is I count myself even on the saw. Fair price for fair use. But I can easily say the vacuum has surpassed my expectation.

Shane, without question. I have always been very complimentary regarding the service department. And I can't tell you how many hours I have spent showing people and bragging about the FOG. At the end of the day the tools are warranted and stood behind with very little pushback!

I just got home and took this thing apart and I feel that I got a steal with this one. Dropped the saw blade out and there are very trace bits of dust (looks like MDF) but no pitch or resin. I can't tell but it looks brand new.

Systainer.  No scuffs, no dust, no finish nails (dammit!) the only thing that is "wrong" is that the handle foam on the lid is loose. I have that with pretty much every tool in the first place, brand new no less!!

Plug it looks like it was never used. Rail appears to be brand new. Do they ship new rails with the recon saws?  I know a saw has never touched it. It has original splinter strip and zero scuffs.

I am very pleased and will gladly take my 20% this time. I know that in the future, I might have a totally different result on another tool, but very happy so far. Can't wait to test it out tomorrow!

Cheers. Bryan.

I can't guarantee that saws come with brand new rails. But I do know that if there's a case where the rail is not brand new, it gets a new splinterguard applied.

It took me a few seconds to realize what "handle foam" was, but yes, the foam for the lid on my TS55 systainer is like that too (I bought it new a few years ago as part of my first Festool purchase).

I wonder... if I put a dab of some kind of glue in the middle of that foam next time before I close the lid, would the pressure of the saw pushing up against the foam clamp it well enough to glue it in place?  Or would the glue be likely to squeeze out on the saw and everything else in the box?

Hmm...

I thought about using hot glue. That way if it did squeeze out, it could get pealed off.
