Recon tools - the final stretch - 40% off all tools

Really happy to have scored my first few festool pieces with this sale.  Thanks to all the festool employees keeping up with the mad demand from us!

Does anyone know what, if anything, the color coded stickers on the tools mean?  My ts-55r saw had a green on it, my c15 drill had a green and a yellow - and I just tonight received my ct midi with a blue sticker on the outside of the box.

Just curious if they meant anything.  I searched around and couldn't find this mentioned just yet.

Looks like we broke the site, the live inventory list is down.
Maybe they are pulling an "Apple" and taking the site offline before a major update. ;)

We have an Internet outage at our headquarters right now. That's why the list is down. No ETA on it being back online. I will be in meetings this morning, so I will not likely be able to post when it's back online.

Wait!  Can I get a corded Carvex?  Can you bring up that action item at the meeting?  :)

I think there's a lot praise and thanks to go around between the folks at Festool and the dealers who've put up with all the text messages, phone calls and desperate cries of "Domino? Domino? DOMINO?"

My experience was pretty much like everyone else: I made a list of what I was looking for and it took a few tries to get most of it. There are still things on my list but I'll take my chances like most folks.

Before this sale I hadn't been a Festool owner for what it's worth.

I haven't seen any of the MFT or Router Tables but I might have just missed them. (I'm crossing my fingers.)

My neighbor, who also did pretty well with his orders, said the curse of success with the sale is that you then need to go out and buy all the accessories. I suppose that's a big plus for the dealers.

Anyway I wanted to say thanks again Festool and everyone involved in the sale. I also appreciate the occasional bumper stickers that have wound up in the boxes. A nice and thoughtful touch.

man... this is getting ridiculous.  I've tried four times now to order one of the CT Midis that have popped up over the past few days.  by the time a salesman answers the phone (at any of the three dealers I've tried), they get me to the one person on staff who knows how to order a recon tool, and he refreshes his page... it's gone.  I've been trying for nearly a week to make this purchase.  There has to be a better way.

Anyone know approx in what quantity posted items are?  There use to be black and red (low) but I think it's just all black now.

The Cordless Drill T18 Li 3.0 in T-LOC Systainer that's there, is that with the batteries and other chicks or a basic kit without them?

What do you realistically want?

Even if you were able to secure the item yourself, someone will probably have quicker fingers than you. It's a limited supply with high demand, there's never going to be a method that satisfies everyone.

No idea on the first question.  Regarding the T18, it has 2 batteries but not the right-angle and eccentric chucks that come in a set.

There's one there right now. Hurry up!

Persistence is the key. If you really, really, want it...keep trying. Yeah, luck plays a role with this stuff too, but stick to it. If you give up, you definitely won't get one. I almost gave up, but hung in there and hit the jackpot w/ a Domino, TS55, and a Kapex. I for one, need this sale end.  [wink]

maybe a time limit on how long it is held without being purchased?  The same item number has popped up at least 4 times today, then disappeared within a few minutes.  It seems to happen about every 30-ish minutes... which happens to be the same length of time that the dealer order hold lasts.  I think some dealer out there keeps re-upping his "hold" on this one Midi.

other than that, I think there are many ways that the stock of tools could be made available to the public without hurting dealers.  One way could be similar to the way a limited-run vehicle is made available to car dealers: based on previous sales volume, items are distributed on a weighted-round-robin basis to dealers to offer for sale.  Those dealers then have some advance notice of what they will be allowed to sell and when, and can plan for it.  unsold items could expire after a week or so, and return to the pool for re-distribution.  Something along those lines.  That's just one idea... an even simpler one would be to bypass the dealer network for the reconditioned tool sales and offer them directly to the customers, all at once.  Somewhere in the middle is the concept of just releasing all of the stock at once.  Of course I do understand that these are being made available as they are reconditioned, but a one-line caveat explaining that shipment will not happen until the tool has undergone the reconditioning process helps mitigate that problem.  Yet another idea would be an API that lets online dealers handle the online sales directly...

I think there are ways to handle this that work better for everyone.  For a company that specializes in the best in tool engineering, I guess I was expecting a bit more on the computer engineering side.  FWIW, I am a systems architect by trade so perhaps I just am expecting too much.

How about one item per phone call. At least the odds of getting one again would give the rest a chance. There shouldn't be allowed a guy buying 3 dust collectors and 2 kapex's on one call.  Clearly they're just going to sell one.

If you want to know what comes with it, take the number on the left and google "Festool " + that number. That's what comes with it. I've done this many times during this sale to figure out what I want and what doesn't suit me.

Play that out… No sir you can't buy 5 of our products at one time?

Can't we take this sale at face value and leave it at that? I mean… do we really want Festool to say to themselves that this sale caused too much turbulence and end it to never be seen again?

That will have the drill, 2 batteries, charger, centrotec chuck, and drill chuck in the T-Loc.  NO right angle or eccentric chucks...

The recon tools are already a loss for Festool. Should they sink even more money in it to develop a web interface that's only needed for a one-time limited run?

Even if they did, I know for sure it would end up like this and people would come vent their frustration here again:
