Recon tools - the final stretch - 40% off all tools

Shane,
A quick thought from a web developer regarding selling the recon tools and why you don't do it direct, etc. I don't mean to beat a dead horse but I was just thinking about this today when I had some free time.

Could you not provide a snippet of code or even a pre-built page that dealers can put on their own sites which has an include or an iFrame that loads the recon program into it where users can purchase? That way you aren't selling directly and you can track which site the purchase came from through some rudimentary JavaScript that shows you the referrer so the dealers can get credit for the purchase without being constantly available during these sales (or not, depending on the dealer :)

Just wondering why a system like this or similar can't be implemented? I'm sure there is more to it on your end and I'm oversimplifying it but can't something similar to this be done?

My SYS-Port 500 arrived yesterday. Without a doubt it was a brand new unit. The packing slip had a 5% discount note. There was a small paint crack on one of the joints. Other then that, it looks perfect. Ok time to organize a little bit.

does anyone know of
sku #691152, this appears not to be a NA sku, and then item on the recon sale
list an air lex 3 77/2.5 is definitely nania, but i cant match european sku, so i cant
tell if this is a kit or just the sander?
anyone in europe know?

never mind. looks like someone else noticed and either bought it? or festool pulled a nania tool  too bad

I wrote a script I’ve been using that tracks the list and sends me an email list of new items that have been added.  I thought I’d see if anyone else on FOG would be interested in getting notified.

Some things to note (or be warned of) before joining:
- This will send an email EVERY time something is added to the list, which will have a few side-effects:
    - You can get upwards of 20-30 emails a day.  If multiple items are added at once, it will send them all in one email, but you can get a bunch all at once (I think because I track faster than they post)
    - If an item is added, and then removed (bought), and then added again (canceled order), you will get an email EVERY time it is added
- As Shane has mentioned many times, there are very limited quantities of stock so when you get to the list, it might be gone.
- The emails are removed and added manually (for now), so if you want on/off the list, it could be a few hours until I can get to it.
- There is no warranty, express or implied about this, I just put this together for myself, but since I have most of the items I was looking for, I figured I’d see if anyone else was interested.
- I am not a dealer or in any way affiliated with Festool

Still in?  Send me a PM and I'll send you my email address.  You'll have to send me an email from the address you want to add (my way of confirming you own the address you want me to send it to)

I'll send a PM as I'm interested but does that script refresh the website often (how often) to see the page differences?  Is that something that will cause load on the festool webpage?  Will they see thousands of page requests from your script and eventually block it?
Hahah, they're reading this now and saying to themselves "it's you doing that?!?".

The script makes a single request every five minutes and keeps a local database of all previous offerings, so it should not be a huge load for a website (hopefully).  So no more load then all you guys constantly hitting refresh =).

But I'll be a good citizen and throw that to Shane if he wants to comment (either here or privately)...

You shouldn't need to make anything, there are tools already available that monitor website changes like Page Monitor, Versionvista, etc. The only question would be if it works with whatever programming language used for the list itself. It should, though.

Psshhh...what's the fun in that?

I've got a bunch of folks already, so i'm going to hold off on adding anyone else for now to make sure everything still works and doesn't fail under load.  If you pm'd me already, I'll add you ( there are a few that'll have to wait until I get back to my computer, it's too tough to do on a phone, but i'l get to it .

@Shane, per your e-mail (below) is it safe to assume that there will be no new listings today?

Unfortunately, due to some technical issues with the automatic notification system for reconditioned tools, we will no longer be offering this service. Our service team plans to continue to add any new inventory to our offerings daily between noon - 1:30pm Eastern. Please check our website during this time frame to view current availability.

Thank you.

Correction, going up shortly.

Correction, going up shortly. I spoke too quickly. Checked with the service team and they were running behind getting them posted today.

[attachthumb=1]Big happenings at the Kelby House! Thanks Bob! Again...you are the best! I got my Recond Midi, C15 and CXS today! Couldn't tell the CXS was used at all, the C15 had a LIGHT scuff mark on the side, hardly any sign of use at all and the Midi was clearly used but in wonderful shape! I bought this specifically for a miter saw and it will stay in place for that and my DW 734 planer I just got. I am super stoked and thanks again for the hard work and hours Bob! Now...let's see what I can buy from you now.... [eek]

So my turn,
I got my order today from Bob,and it looks brand new.
I ordered a ts55req but of a miscommunication,Bob got me a 75.
I can't be happier, the money they charge for a ts75 was VERY prohibitive to me.
But with my work being general construction and renovations,a ts75 would be a better choice. I am happy for the mixup.
The rail and saw look new,it had a 5percent off sticker in the systainer. T-lok btw.
Thanks Bob.
Chuck

For me, I got a ETS125 from Bob that looks new, and Tom B helped me get a CXS (@30% couple weeks ago), and a Kapex @40% that just arrived last light.  The Kapex box was big enough that UPS did not bring it all the way to the front door, and didn't ring the doorbell.  All good things since I was able to get this into the shop without the wife noticing!  I did open up the Kapex, and it looks pristene, down to the blade.  It will be a while before I can fully check it out.

Still looking for one more thing...

Is the stock pretty much depleted?  Any plans today for another big push of items?

I have no idea of the actual stock levels, but I am going to bet there ARE PLENTY MORE TOOLS yest to become available. The sale is only halfway over.

I limited myself to a DTS 400, which arrived looking in new condition so I'm very happy. I did notice thought that the dust extraction holes are slightly offset from the permanent (white) sub-base to the removable (black) Velcro pad.

[attachthumb=1]

It is probably not a real issue in use but I wondered if this was common or just this sander? The holes in the Velcro base line up with the paper so if there is an issue it must be with the white sub-base.

PS - as always, Bob's service was awesome.
