Recon tools - the final stretch - 40% off all tools

setting the alarm clock for the festool sale!--i got a chuckle from that over my morning coffee after a fitful night's rest.  grace under pressure, my friend.  the way i look at it is:  "hey, i'm glad for a fellow FOG guy who may have a tight budget and got a good deal to try out a new tool." real joy in life never comes from gobble, gobble, brag, brag, must have, must have...

Everyone, we attempt to conduct these things in a way that as far as possible to everyone. Ultimately, there are some items with very low availability. If you see something on the list with a red item number, there are VERY few of them.

I would recommend going into it with the expectation that you may not score what you want. That way you'll be pleasantly surprised if you do.

Apologies for any frustration experienced by anyone.

As a very new member of FOG, and a brand new wood worker, I'll offer my humble view of yesterdays Festool Feeding Frenzy.  [big grin]

I checked the forums yesterday morning and saw the posts announcing the big sale around 10am.  Excited, I headed over to check out the list of available tools and decided I would pick up a RO 150 and a Carvex.

I grabbed my phone and dialed up one of the dealers who are active on this forum:

Dealer:  Hello
Me:  Howdy, I just read about the Festool 40% sale on the FOG, and wanted to see about picking up a couple of items.
Dealer:  Oh great.  Thanks for calling.  Actually, that sale doesn't start until Midnight tonight.
Me:  Whoa!  You're going to have a late night, eh?
Dealer:  No kidding.  It's gonna be nuts.
Me:  So just give you a call tonight?
Dealer:  Yep, I'll be up.
    Me:  Ok, great.
Dealer:  Have a great day.

Later that day at the dinner table, I check my phone to see the latest FOG activity, and notice another dealer mentioning he already has a long waiting list.  [huh]

So I call my original dealer, get his voicemail, and he calls me back a few minutes later.  Great guy!  We talked for a few minutes, and I got on the list a few hours later than I perhaps should have.

I'm not angry because I wasn't treated unfairly.  I didn't specifically ask to be put on a waiting list, and the dealer didn't think to offer that as an option.  At the end of the day I'm thankful to be getting a new Carvex at a great discount.  And, I didn't have to stay up until Midnight to place my order.  Of course, I hope there were enough RO 150's to make it down to my spot in line, but if not we still have a month left, and hopefully more will come up for sale during the next 4 weeks.

So, my feedback would be to simply add a line in the announcements that makes it clear you can call now to reserve you place in line.  I was thinking something like, "Call Now To Reserve Your Place In Line" would work great.  [tongue].

Hope everyone has a great day, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

EJ

In case I didn't already mention it, check the list from time to time. We will be adding more tools. I have no idea which tools, in what quantities, or at what time. But, I do know the service team is working to recondition more tools that are in queue.

Sadly my 40% off festool email went into my Junk Mail Box... I missed the midnight frenzie!

After a order is placed ,how long before it is shipped?
Thanks,Chuck

Normally, it would be same day for orders place before noon. But, with the sheer volume of orders coming in, I would conservatively say that you should expect it to ship within 3-4 business days.

Any plans for Cooltainers to be on the 40% sale. I'm sure some of the had to be reconditioned after use.

Dave, only tools. Plus, we sold out of Cooltainers almost as soon as we began selling them.

Hi Shane,
Thanks for the reply but the question was 100% tongue in cheek on my part. Clearly I need to sign up for Festool emoticons training class.
[big grin]

Sorry, Dave. With all of the scrambling to answer questions and all, I completely missed the humor.  [embarassed]

thanks shane

There has to be a better way to run these sales. I have been waiting hours for Bob Marino to get his head above water and call me to finalize an order. I do not blame Bob for this situation.

I emailed in my order yesterday at 1:00pm, I hope that it went through, but I do not have conformation yet. Time will tell  ;D

Thanks to Festool for the deal and to Tom at Tool Home, seems I will be adding a cordless Carvex to my stacks-o-Systainers.    :)

+1  Why isn't Festool should just be selling these direct.

As I've posted before, we consider our dealers our partners. We don't want to slight our partners by selling these direct.

As a dealer, how would you feel if your distributor suddenly became your competitor, underselling you by 10-40%?

In the end, we try to be fair and equal to everyone. So, the intention is good even if some of you are unhappy with the way it's done. Apologies if that is the case.
