Me too elfick.... Seems like starting this sale at MN when most of the dealers are closed and u can't order online is less than ideal...

Ya think? ;)

Oh come on Bob... you didn't wanna sleep tonight anyway did ya?... You gotta stay up and be the enabler for all us addicts...

I wonder how many of these Bob cleared. [tongue]

The list looks a lot shorter for sure.

Shane,
Any plans for Cooltainers to be on the 40% sale. I'm sure some of the had to be reconditioned after use.
Dave

[poke]  [popcorn]  ;D  ;)

Tools are selling fast - BUT this sale will last a month and I'm betting there will be many more stabs at the tools that got away...
Right now out of RO 150, ETS 150/3, SYSLITES, 850 PLANERS, MFK 700'S.

Ok, break's over -  back to work...

I'm a little miffed.

I'm currently in Nigeria (for another 2 1/2 weeks) and follow the FOG every day while stuck here.

The 40% off sale was an exciting opportunity, and all the early FOG posts, including those from Shane, stated that the sale would start at MIDNIGHT EST!!!  I purposely set my alarm in Nigeria to wake up just after midnight EST to call an order in because that is what I assumed would be the earliest anyone could take advantage of this sale, at least according to the hype.

Waking up, I went to the list to find the items I had intended were already gone, and then here to FOG to see that dealers were taking PM orders earlier in the evening to lock up product PRIOR to the midnight release. I was already asleep when these "pre-orders" were allowed to happen.

That's like a Black Friday sale in stores where customers would be able to "reserve" products prior to the store's mob opening. That NEVER happens....but apparently it's OK here. [mad]

Not a happy camper this morning.

sans cheers,
Frank

Hi Frank,

Sorry you missed out on the items you were looking for.  Once the announcement was made - a little after 11AM today, anyone could call in an order to their dealer of choice. They are not reserving anything, simply getting in que for the time when the actual orders could be placed by the dealers. Orders are by almost always finalized by phone, even if a PM or email was sent by a customer.
No dealer has the whatever, as far as I know, to allow these recon orders to be placed on their own web sites, which would be wonderful. It's tough enough to be able to get the orders manually placed that were ordered sometime earlier in the day. Having the call-ins and emails not start until midnight would even be a tougher feat, especially for dealers and customers on the East Coast.
Perhaps on the next recon sale, there can be a more "user friendly" means of administering/ordering the tools.

Bob

Phew, orders are in and time to call it a night - or rather a morning. Many tools were sold out, but not before many customers were able to purchase great tools at an unbelievable price and many of the sold out tools will reappear before this sale is over next month. However, there are still plenty left in stock as of this moment. Thanks to my customers for their orders and patience.

Bob

PS, will be open for business oh, not too much later.

Bob,

Not to beleaguer a point, but reviewing the posts, there was no mention of emails or pm's being accepted until your post of 6:57 PM, when you posted this:
Ok, I've gotten some emails and calls about ordering. It's best to call sooner rather than wait until 12 am EST. I am setting up the ordering que now, so best to get in que ASAP, as the Recon are tools now, as always, on a first come first serve basis. And there are many?/some other dealers to "compete" or rather vie with for the tools. And all we dealers are going to give this rodeo our best effort.
I guess the good news is that the initial inventory may quickly sell, but the list is does get repopulated at times.

Bob

That post was near midnight my time (Five hours ahead of EST)

I'm not sure how you figure that people were supposed to know that they could PM or email their orders.... and earlier, you had innuendos about being ready for midnight call-ins referring to vitamins and Red Bull.

I'm just disappointed that the "rules" were not more clearly delineated in the announcement. I would have been first aboard for the two items I wanted.  You'll still be getting my order for the two at MSRP next month, but I'll still have a bad taste in my mouth about the way that this "sale" was not rigorously kept to specific rules and times by Festool and their dealers.

Seems like other people had no problem knowing this. Or they just PM'd instead of making all kinds of assumptions.

First come, first serve. Same rule as always. Is that news?

I agree with Bob, if Festool has this sale again, the only way to make it fair to both dealers and customers is to have some sort of online portal.

Dave, only tools. Plus, we sold out of Cooltainers almost as soon as we began selling them.
