I recently won a new Festool Quad Drive cordless drill and am having difficulty obtaining a receipt for the actual purchase of the tool (which was by someone other  than me). When attempting to register the tool on My Festool, I found I couldn't do it without uploading a receipt for the purchase. Any suggestions on how to proceed with the registration, assuming I may not be able to obtain the receipt?

I know that this Board is named "Ask Festool", but in honesty, Festool rarely answers any questions posed here.  I would suggest that you contact Festool by phone on Monday and ask for help.  I know that is what I would do.

That was going to be my  next step anyway. I already emailed Festool through the contact form and received no response.

Others have said that any image you upload, even a blank piece of paper, is enough for the app to let you through.  The key piece of evidence when warranty is requested is to still have an actual proof of purchase of some sort, even if it wasn't entered into the app.

If a blank piece of paper works, then why is Festool making me jump through hoops?  My hat is off to whoever figured out the blank paper trick.

I doubt anyone looks at anything, it is logic on a computer form - must fill in all boxes before hitting submit - then data is stored until needed ie Warranty work

I have the same complaint, Yardbird.  I miss the "good ol' days" when the retailer would register the warranty on behalf of the purchaser, but I can imagine that as internet sales started to take off, getting consistency on owner names across multiple retailers was a nightmare.

And to add a requirement that isn't actually a requirement, well... That's the current state of user-antagonistic design...  At least they're not using "dark patterns" to trick people into signing up for paid subscriptions and features that they don't want.

Ridgid Tools also requires registration for its Lifetime Service Agreement, and there's also a step to upload the receipt. But the registration can still be completed without any uploads. If uploaded, the owner can access the receipt whenever wanted. (P.S. The LSA does cover repairs free of charge as long as they are not consumables.)

I forgot if Festool required a receipt to be uploaded when I registered my DF, CT, etc.
