Removing Handle on Sys-toolbox2

I am building some plywood storage/tool holders for my Sys-toolbox2 and it occurred to me that if I could just remove the handle I could build one piece that straddles the center hump and covers both sides and then replace the handle. It looks like it is just two tabs on each side but getting to them is the issue. Has anyone figured this out.

Videos are on our website here:

Missed that this was a question about the Sys-Toolbox when I originally read this on my phone. Disregard my reply, which was about regular Systainers.

Shane, the Sys Toolbox has a rigid handle that sticks up, and divides the box into two compartments; unlike the attic lids which go on a normal T-LOC Sys2.

Doh!  [doh]

Was reading on my phone and just saw the first reply about videos and totally missed the fact that this was about the Sys-Toolbox.

Whoops.

I have not seen a video on how to disassemble the Sys-Toolbox.

Ok, went and grabbed my Sys-Toolbox and got the handle off.

I used two standard screwdrivers that had about 7" shanks. You need two because there are two tabs on each side of the handle that are facing opposite directions that need to be simultaneously depressed to release it. I leveraged the screwdrivers up against the inside of the slot in the bottom of the Sys-Toolbox to torque the tabs toward the center. A slight twisting motion of the screwdriver blade helped. I think having another person might make it a little easier. But it took only a couple of minutes.

At first I was thinking the same thing.

But then I thought ................  oooooh, wow, who doesn't have one of those  [poke]

At least the handle is still attached to mine  [tongue]  [big grin]

OK, great job removing the handle that could open a few possibilities for the tool tote style boxes.

You guys better get those back into their temperature and humidity controlled display cases... [poke]

In all seriousness, thanks for taking yours out long enough to show the handle process Shane.  I just got one of these a while back and didn't realize there was a way to do this.
