resetting splinter guard on guide rail?

before I attempt this, is it possible to remove the splinter guard from the track and reset it over for a new clean position?

Yes. But it will never stick as well as the first time.

I need to do this and keep putting it off. I think I've read on here that some people use the Makita splinter guards as they are cheaper and stick better than the new Festool splinter guards. Either way I'm worried I'm going to get it wrong. Are there any top tips for splinter guard replacement?

I used a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive.  Don't drop it.  It will surely land sticky side down.

The ONLY Good thing about the new crappy low tac festool clear strips is that you can move it over and over and over again!

I have moved mine over twice now!  My mate has done his 4 times I think his has become very narrow now.

Its the ends where the festool clear strip are crap all my rails with clear the ends have peeled away from NEW  and you removing them and replacing doesnt make it worse the ends still peel away eventually.  You just need to spray some low tac adhesive on the ends and it will be fine.

I have no special way of doing it.    I just go on one end of the rail peel it back so far and stick it back down again moving it over slightly then go to the other sides and peel it right back all the way to the section you just moved over and then trying to keep it parallel stick it all back down again.    Doing it like that avoids removing the entire strip and dropping it or if flop about and get dirt on it.

I like to use fast cap's speed tape.
It's 2 sided,easy to put on and really strong

Thanks for the ideas guys. I have some spray adhesive here so i may do that, but i love the fast cap tape idea. Just got my 108" rail from makita. 9 feet is longer than it seems when your trying to store and maneuver it!
