Still get incredible tools..just less of a bargain...

Depends on your definition of bargain. Do you live stateside by any chance?  ::)

Yes..  ohh...  you're the guy with the huge cigarette lighter by his saw........ ;)
Yes US prices are still bargains compared to the the rest of the world markets.  I have visited Festool a dealer in Hungary many times and am amazed at the cost difference...also got to play with the table saw/slidey thingy contraption..very nice.....extremely high $$$

Bargain is very relative since the tools are very pricey...and I understand why.... and I pick the ones that I need to satisfy my work...and have no regrets with those Festool purchases.

Every time I have trouble getting my 1214LF SCMS aligned perfectly square it really po's me...although..I am unlucky as no one else has this issue..went through 2 saws decided to live with it  and use it for framing and long cross(really want and will eventually dive  in and get the Kapex...great features for accuracy and alignment)  Ahh... on the other hand.. I have 2 dewalt CMS saws that are dead on and easy to align to make accurate cuts...but alot of folks complain about what pieces or crap they are...just show to go yah.  My 705 has been used very hard and is from the early 90's.  I use the DW716 for my obsessive need for tight finish/molding tasks.  By the way..just got the LED kerfrattachment..was very skeptical..but it works great!!  Like it better than the laser..and it that wasn't bad..just not on both sides....................

Cheers
Ed

Yeah.. I should do better proof reading and spell checking...too fast.  meant kerf attachment...  they call it a LED work light

here yah go:http://www.dewalt.com/us/mitersaws/products/accessory_dws7085.html

It lights up the area...and casts a shadow over the blade that allows you to see the kerf on both sides..very accurately..and there is no difficult alignment procedure.  The laser version is ok and has alignment for all axes.(it can be dialed it very well if you are patient...and FOLLOW the instructions from the mfr...believe it or not some folks don't read the instructions!!!).and was ok..but you lose alignment when yo move it from one side of the blade to the other..

Oh thanks!

My Milwaukee has built in lighting so I am good to go on that.

That shadow of the kerf is kind of cool though.

Ed can you post a picture of that on your saw. Where is it placed on the saw?

My brother has a DeWalt and I am thinking about getting him one.

Yes I wanted to see it on his actual saw though. The pictures are not the greatest on there.

I'd like to see the real thing, but the "shadow of the kerf" concept sounds very useful to me.  I find the laser on my cheapo Hitachi somewhat distracting.  I'd rather be able to see a sharp contrast defining where the blade kerf will be.

I'm also for a light rather than a laser.
Maybe it's just me,but sometime using a laser i can't see my mark when i'm working with darker wood/material.
