Review of the Mirka CEROS (Video Included)

I just posted a review of the Mirka CEROS sander on my blog.  There are two video segments (one is a demonstration) as well as a poll.  Please check out my review and vote on the poll!

To cut to the chase, I think that you should consider this sander because it:

• is powerful and easy to control;
• runs quietly and smoothly;
• feels good because it is compact and well-balanced;
• requires very little maintenance because it has few wearing components; and
• does not require a large air compressor to run (as a pneumatic sander does).

Great review Chris.  I just posted over on your blog, do you have the Ceros P/N's for the 6" back-up pad and contour pad?  I haven't found them listed for sale anywhere yet.

I added a section in the article with part number and other suppliers.  You'll find it towards the end of the post.

Looking at their website, it appears that Woodcraft carries the back-up pad but not the contour pad.  Lee Valley and Ultimate Tools carries both items.  I'm sure there are other suppliers too.

Here in the UK we have the recently launched DEROS (direct electric random orbital sander) from mirka. It runs off 240V so no transformer and comes with both 125 and 150mm heads. I've had it for about 2 months and I love it. I too run mirka's own hose for the same reasons as mentioned connected to a midi which more than copes with the dust generated on dry wall. I run abranet sheets which are available in most grits. I was thinking of a ro150 but I think the deros will suffice. On finish wood sanding I run as is but on drywall I use the pad savers which are a lot more forgiving
