I purchased a  rotex today  and apologies  if this  has  been asked before.
The single  80  grit sanding  disc  that came with  the  rotex  has the  inner  hole  and the outer holes  and a row of intermediate  holes.

Theres  also  another row  of finer holes  on  the rotex  sanding pad. Can anyone  explain  these  and why  the  festool  supplied  sanding disc  doesn't have them?
Thank you.

The  sanding  discs  I was  recommended    has the inner  hole  and the outer holes  and I've been  using these.
Using the machine  with a  CLEANTEC CTL 26 AC  also  and very pleased  with the total  lack  of dust. This thing is a game changer.
Been sanding  oak  planks in rotex mode  after the  planer and  its fast.

I believe the explanation was that those smaller holes are meant to cool the pad so your sandpaper won't gum up so fast and last longer. They are not used for dust extraction. The 8+8+1 hole pattern suffices for Festool's current dust extraction philosophy.
