I've used my rotex on a lot of different projects, very light to really rough sanding. Never had a problem. Today I picked it up for the first time in 4 months for a really, really small project.
Less than 30 secs and it just stops and won't start again. Tried different cord, different outlet, nothing. A few minutes later I tried again, it started, finished my sanding. Picked it up again and it wouldn't start. Tried later in the day and it started.
This sounds like automatic shutoff to prevent overheating, but I hardly did any sanding!
It's only just over a year old, so it's still under warranty, but seriously?

I have not had a single 'wobble' from any of my Festool tools and feel that this must be a case of genuine bad luck. Get your dealer or your national Festool people to sort this out. One thing that attracted me to Festool was their fantastic after sales service and so I am sure that you will be fully supported in this.

I suspect one of the features of the MMC electronics is coming into play.  Make sure you are not starving the tool for electricity  by using too long a cord of insufficient thickness someplace in your power chain.

I wish someone from Festool would write a bulleted point article on all of the things that MMC electronics do for us.  I am sure we would be amazed.

had the same here, it's about 2 months old 2nd job started once then went to restart, nothing. the place I bought it went bankrupt. do I have to call festool directly then?

my other rotex 90 is awesome!! with the ct36 ac...

Forgot to say that I felt excessive heat on the top of the sander after a 5 min sanding, felt much hotter than it would be for such a short period, even for a long time I don't remember having so much heat on other sanders.

The sander has overheating protection. Did you try it again after it cooled down? If you call our service department, they can assist with troubleshooting and repair if needed. The number is below and on your tool. We will be closed tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry for the trouble.

thx for the reply!
yes I tried it even the next day with another wire also, but when it did stop the sander worked for approx. 5 minutes .

sent mine today to Ontario for repair... should get it in 2 weeks. so far great service [smile]

Received my rotex last friday , gotta say, outstanding service!
Didn't get all the details but it was the electronic part that blew ,guess that's where the heat came from. Anyways goes like a charm !
If only i could get my car dealer with the same service:(
