Rotex 90 - Is there Protection Pad

Hi all,

I have both RO125 and RO150 and use a protection pad / pad saver between the pad and paper.

I recently bought a RO90 but I cannot find a 90 diameter protection pad. All that I can find is this crappy sponge interface pad which is super soft.

Question - Is there a pad saver for the RO90 at all??? Any links would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately no because Festool doesn't produce Granat Net for the RO 90. Possibly you could modify the 125 protection pad to work with the 90?

Only the 125, 150, RTS 400/LS 130 and the DTS 400.

Yes indeed, that's what I have been doing - cutting out 90 from 125 and then punching holes for air flow.

it kinda seems a little wasteful

Are you using Mirka net on the RO 90?

mirka net only on super fine grits but mainly granat 40,60,80,120

Would someone be willing to explain or point me to an explanation of the value of these interface or protection pads?  And I pretty much only use Rubin 2 paper.  For sure I haven't looked at Mirka.  thanks. Rich

Because the new Festool Net & Mirka Abranet are completely open abrasive screens (similar to the old 3M drywall screens) the protection pad is placed between the sanding screen and the sander pad. Thus you wear out a $5 protection pad rather than a $45 sander pad.

Got it.  Haven't found a need for the net sandpapers yet.  So I don't need a protection pad.  thanks.
