Rotex / ETS combination size decision

Thanks for the comments all...

Gerry / Kevin, I've got an abrasives order building up and caught onto the need for hard pads early on - definitely on my list!

Seth, when I did my research I came across your thread on the handle and saw Paul Marcel sing its praises as well - seemed a useful add-on for little money.

For what its worth (I have only used these for like an hour total) I just purchased a RO90 and RO150. When I first opened the 150, i thought holy crap i should have bought the 125. The pad is huge compared to my dewalt 5". After using it for 15 minutes this weekend, I did a complete 180 and LOVE the larger pad. Even for some 4" wide pieces i was sanding, it worked great and I won't be using the 5" much anymore. The RO90 and RO150 go well together in my opinion.

Thanks icecactus, good to hear. Got the shipping update this morning and my shiny kit arrives tomorrow.

Appreciate the reassurance on this one. I knew the RO90 was on the list, but as pointed out up there ^ I'm not sure the difference in size between the 90 and the 125 makes sense as a combination.

I responded to your other thread in regards to the ETS150/3, you know you want it!!!

That was my exact reasoning for going the RO150.

Yea i do! I am trying to talk myself out of it. LOL  3 weeks ago I had no festool products. I now have way to many. [big grin]

I know what you mean, when I first came across them I thought "yeah right, what type of fool pays that much for power tools".

That would be me  [embarassed]

I still weigh them up against other vendors when I buy kit but the reality is you get what you pay for which is why I think they are easy to justify. There are plenty of tools I regret buying or not spending a little more on, but I have yet to regret my Festool purchases. My bank balance however is not as impressed!

I think you'll love your new sanders and if you have time, post after you use them for a while to let us know what you think after you have given them a good workout.

the ETS150/3 was my first festool.  There is simply no comparison.  the ro150, ro90, and ES150/3 are a great trio of sanders.

Whahey!!!!!!! It's here in all it's glory.

Took delivery of the tools mentioned above and also had a Domino 500 and tenon package that was delivered earlier but hadn't had time to collect and open.

All in all, six new tools to play with and learn.

Ah man that must be a deadly feeling  getting all that hope you have fun

Cheers Nippychippy, it is cool to take a big hit in one go.

I do hope this doesn't come across as gloating! There are few people I know that appreciate the joy of taking delivery of so many green badged power tools - need to shout it out somewhere.

Surprisingly, the one tool that stands out from the lot is the RO90, its so well balanced, feels about right and I can't wait to stat using it. The RO150 is also not as foreboding as I dreaded it would be - its a little big but manageable.

This was a good choice of tools - thanks again to everyone for steering me in this direction.

I am very happy for you and can imagine some late nights ahead playing with all the new kit.  Hopefully you received some sample sandpaper to give the sanders a quick run.  Regarding gloating, you are correct we are the ones that can truly appreciate what you have there.

Let us know what you think about the ets150/3…

I can't speak for others, but I think it's totally appropriate to gloat a little - and this is the perfect place to do it! Who else would better understand? Sure, I might be a little jealous but that doesn't diminish my congratulations to you.

I hope you enjoy them all, and use them in good health!

You will love sorting through that stack for years to come. Congrats on the haul.

I bought an oil kit last year and I have found it to be quite handy. I did notice that the sander will suck the oil up and spit it out the extraction port. I just run a bag on the back to catch it.
