Can anyone recommend a safe way to round-over 1" strips using my Festool CMS-GE router table? Thanks.

Maybe clamp a board 1" away from the fence and use a push stick. If you haven't ripped the 1" strips yet, round them over on both sides then rip.

Feather boards on entry and exit on the fence and on the table top, push one stick through with the next till you are done.

Jay,
I'm not getting your answer. The strip is too narrow to clamp. The strips are 1" x1" x 24"...there's not enough to clamp.

Tim, do mean using something like the Bench Dog or Kreg featherboards?

Yup, or the jessem ones. I think the bench dog ones are better than the kreg ones.

...or make your own feather boards. You don't want any binding when you are trying to push the sticks through, it really makes a mess of the round over.

Huh, I guess I just don't see what a feather board can do that a makeshift clamping of a board would  do.  I have feather boards, but you can make them as norm Abrum has done in his videos.  Feather boards are just boards with slats to allow to slide through easier.  Sorry man, I'll bow out with misunderstanding.

Oh I think you thought I meant clamp the 1"x1"x24" strips. No I meant clamp a board to the fence to push your 1"x1"x24" strips through. Feather boards really are better, so take a 1x4 and cut dozens of slits in it, violla.

Because of your help, I think that I figured out a possibilty.  It would have to be a homemade modified featherboard concept, whereby a typical featherboard wouldn't work...because it would fail to hold the piece to the fence.  It would basically be a mimic of the CMS concept, just a custom that could hold a 1" strip (wh. The CMS can't do.) Thanks, Tim and Jay!

I was wishing there were tracks in the insert for feather boards last week.  The clear plastic thingy is ok, but would be nice to add some feather boards to the insert to accomplish just what you're talking about.  Add it to the festool wish list.

Yes, Jay. I concur.  Also, I understand dust collection and portability are a part of Festool's focus for products. I just wish that the CMS coping system and it's featherguard apparatus was more robust.  Same goes for the MFT cross cutting system.

Here's something I came up with that may assist in the featherboard to the fence category. Lemme know if this helps!

Here's another shot of the Jessem featherboard backed off to allow a wider board to pass through.

I used the Kapex UG mounting bracket to make the attachment. I then mounted a piece of 6mm and 16mm ply to get flush with the table. My featherboard can be unscrewed and flipped around to accommodate wide and narrow boards.

This is a good idea, Bob.  I was thinking of also using a featherboard from above - to keep the piece from coming up, since it's so light.

I was playing with a lock miter bit and got a bit carried away with feather boards. I needed two levels of support for the vertical piece.

That's where I'd just use the CMS fence featherboard. You could certainly attach a featherboard to the Festool fence if needed!

Yes, this is it!

Bob, the Festool doesn't get close enough.
