I plan to order the Festool router 1400 EQ. I'd like to order all necessary components for horizontal edge banding operations. My understanding is that I would need the Edging Plate #486058 & the Angle Arm #486052. My question is ...  To enhance dust collection do I require any additional Chip Guide ie, 445497 ???

I'm no expert and could be totally wrong (I'm sure someone will correct me shortly...) but I don't think the edge plate is recommended for use with the 1400. It's meant for the lighter 1010. As I say I could be completely wrong but thought I'd mention it

I believe the edging plate is compatible with the 1400 but it will be a bit on the ungainly side. The chip deflector I believe only fits on the 1010. I could be mistaken but I'm sure someone with more knowledge will add on if that's the case. :)

I tried this with my 1400. Once. Never again. the 1400 is too heavy, and there is not as much adjustment as with the 1010.

Look at the MFK Trim Router.  WOW !
I went looking because of this thread.
Looks to me like it was made for edge banding.

I want an MFK 700.... bad.  [tongue]

One thing though....  I searched for MFK threads and most of them were MFK's for sale.
Any reason why?

It's not THE router for everything, but for the design purpose, it's darn hard to beat.  Those that think they can do everything with it will be disappointed.

Makes perfect sense.

If you use as it was intended to be used you will be very pleased. It is a great trim router and also works well for small dados and edge profiles
