Router bits for figured edge banding with a OF 1010.

What  bit are people using to rout figured wood edge banding? I have been using my OF  1010 with  the edge plate and it's accessories, with a bearing laminate bit. I'm thinking of going to a compression bit without a  bearing to lessen the chance of damaging the plywood veneer.  I don't want to get a 700, I have tried it and with my eye sight and arthritis, it's not comfortable for me to use. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.   
I Should add I'm cutting  full 3/4" stock, oak and maple.

Take a look at this video series by askWoodman. He uses a technique that you may find easier to do although the set up is a bit more time consuming. There are 5 or 6 videos in the series.
