I'm thinking of getting in a few purchases before the price increase.

Torn between the 1400 and 2000.  They each have their strong points. This will be hand use and on the fmt too. So, which would you choose ?

I do have a few other routers......but none are festool.

Thanks

Mike

That's personal. The 2000 will swing a bigger bit faster. You can do some profiles in a single pass clean while you'd want to make two passes with the 1400.

Hi,

The 2000 is a big bad powerhouse, and unless you are doing some heavy duty stuff it will be overkill. The OF1400 is a newer generation in comparison, and is decked out with some real nice features.  I can't see a reason not to get the 1400 for general purpose use.

Mike,

I thought long and hard and decided to go with the 1400 since I'd occasionally use it as a second router on my Leigh gig.  My first router was a 1010 and I love it but I needed a router that would take 1/2" bits and had more power for larger tasks.  I like the balance of the 1400 and cant' imagine needing a router as large and heavy as the 2000.  I think you'll be surprised at the power and capabilities of the 1400.  If I was to have only one router this would be it.

Thank you for the replies. I was leaning toward the 1400,  just trying to cover all the bases. There isn't much of a cost spread between the two. It's funny though, all you get with the 1400 compared to the 2000.
