It looks like between me and Garry there should be enough to go around.I am not ordering until the earliest Monday so others can think about it.

I do not want Garry getting stuck with any he does not want so lets buy up his first since I have not ordered yet.

Nick

Thanks, Nick.  As soon as I know what's up, I'll share.

Nick or anyone else for that matter,
How easy is it to change out to the pigtail.  Do you have to soldier  or is there a screw type connection?

thanks
JJ

Garry and Nick.  Thanks to both of you for doing this. I will buy one from either of you.  If you are stuck with too many I can buy 2.

I know there's a thread around here somewhere with how to do this change, but now I can't find it, anyone know?

Also -- roughly what are we looking at price wise for each?

Carl

I paid 59.81 for two shipped. Its about 2.00 each pigtail additional shipping after that, plus the initial 19.75 american for each 460mm 110V pigtail.

Nick

I wound up at $230 for 10 shipped from UK (so $23 ea.) plus shipping to you.

That's why I should have got them all at once! I just keep adding tools after I think I am done.

Nick,

I was going to put a pigtail on each tool including non festools that I use on the vac... but Instead (Recommended by Seth to try)I put a female end on my pigtail and can use it on everything that doesn't have the plugit... so far it seems to work great.  Still saves me from going back to the vac to plug in.  When I change tools, I just change the hose , then pull the tools cord up to my pigtail adapter and plug it...  The extra cord length actually works better so far...  Later I may change them out but I figured this way I only needed one and don't have to worry about my warranty on anything.  Your thoughts?

I'm thinking I am in for 2, but how easy is it to put these in?  I plan on putting one on my RS2E and my corded Dewalt drill that I use for drilling Kreg jig holes.

Well the extra cord is what mostly drives me crazy, but that is a cool idea I have not thought of. Cheaper for sure and no messing with the inside of the tool. Its hard to argue with your  rationale.

15 minutes for the RS2 changeover for me Sparky.

The adaptors arrived last night.  I'll be sending PM's today.

Thank you Garry.  I responded to your pm.  and I will take one.

Nickao or Garry if you get stuck with an extra I will take another one (although I really need only one)

Vijay

I did not get home in time today to get these shipped out, many apologies.  I'll get them ready over the weekend and drop them off on Monday.

Yes and anyone else just ask, this is the last order I am making for a long time!

I'm in for 2, just picked up an Rs 2 and a Deltex.

Jim

I think I'm doing my Claude Reins impersonation (invisible man). Was my post too late, or what?

To all that got Plug-it adaptors from me:

I fitted my DX93 and my RS2E tonight.  The female portion of the plug-it does NOT mate up directly to the male end on our cords.  I don't know if I got the wrong model number or what, but I had to do a very slight modification to the pigtails for them to work.  There is a second "rib" in these that I had to trim out with a 1/4" chisel.  I don't have pictures, but it will be fairly obvious.

This was very easy to do (about 10 seconds per unit), but I saw no reference to it in other people's posts about this subject.  Try plugging one in BEFORE you install it on the tool.

I simply placed the plugit through a hole on my MFT and cut the extra rib out of the way using a sharp 1/4" chisel.

My apologies for the trouble, although it is a very easy work around.  If you don't want to go to the trouble of modifying these (it's not like it's a warranty issue at this point  ;) ), just let me know and I'll shred your checks.  Just ship them back to me.

Garry,

Sounds pretty straighforward. Just got back to town and it was in the mailbox. You're quick. The check is in the mail, almost ::).

Thanks,

Jim

Garry,

The pigtails arrived yesterday and I installed one on my HL850 (Planex).  Hopefully you've received my check or will shortly.

It took a little while to figure out how to disassemble it but once I had the cover off and figured out that I, too, had to carve out the little bump on the female end of the pigtail, the retrofit went smoothly.  The HL850 has a thick rubber sleeve that covers and reinforces the cord as it exits the Planex (similar to a strain relief collar).  The old cord can be pulled through the sleeve after it's disconnected from the tool trigger assembly (fortunately Festool doesn't mold the sleeve onto the cord set itself which makes future cord replacement a snap).

To keep the pig tail as short as possible, I pulled the pigtail end tight against the strain relief sleeve, then tighted the cord anchor inside the Planex.  Including the strain relief sleeve the pigtail, the total amount of cord including the PlugIt female end is 6".  I could probably have cut this length further by cutting the strain relief collar shorter.  I may do this later.

Total time for installation:  25 minutes.

Thanks so much for coordinating the purchase!  Everything went very smoothly.  If you find yourself with an extra pigtail after everyone gets what they've ordered, let me know.  I'd gladly take it off your hands.

Rom

Gary,
I saw no reference to it in other people's posts about this subject

What model number did you get? Wonder if Festool changed them? Bought some 6 months ago and they fit without modification.

By the way the blue lead is "hot", brown is neutral.
