RS 2 owners in the US may need to paper-up.

@luvmytoolz @onocoffee it’s super confusing with the pads for all the 1/2 sheet sander’s but I figured it out as I have all of them. If you bought an eBay pad that says it fits all the variants, it does not. It fits the RS 100 cq and RS 1 c. Different from the RS 1/100 q as they don’t need to be hooked to a vac like the c/cq. Pads for the RS 200, 2e, 100 q, (NOT cq) and RS 1 are the same. In the first pic that shows the part number, the top 4 are stickfix, bottom are for clamping. 485648, and 485647 have the non marring edges on the sides. Next pic. They are very difficult to find and are usually about to fall apart even if never used just bc of age, storage etc. (2nd pic). The one that is what you’ll need is 483679. It’s the stick fix regular pad. 489629 is the one to use if you cut your own paper as it has no (loop) on it. If you go this route, don’t use paper that has hooks on it and then clamp it. You’ll ruin the pad. Common sense. Last pics show the slight differences in length between the pad for the 492310 RS 1/100 cq/c and the 483679 for the RS 2/200 RS 1/100 q. Hope the helps a little.

Edit. When your pads fall apart eventually, save the metal backing plate so you can clean it up and create a new base with whatever material/ profile you want and the holes are there for the dust extraction. 👌🏽
Thanks Anthony, that's some great details. Appreciate it!

@anthonymall That's insanely useful thanks! It's been driving me up the wall that the Festool rep and the ebay sellers are saying it's the right pad, but the screw holes are just a few mm off!

Thanks heaps for going to the trouble to post this and help clear things up!

Also, a lesson to myself to ALWAYS buy one of everything! ;-)

I use 40 grit....Tool Nirvana has 80 grit and up
Oke...? Then you buy it elsewhere or ask them to get it for you. I regularly order stuff from a nearby store that doesn't have exactly what I want, but sells other stuff from the same brand and then just orders me what I want from that brand too.

What you dont seem to understand is that RAS is discontinued. I cant just order from somewhere else. Im looking for an alternative supplier

This is one of those situation where putting your location in your profile would prevent misunderstandings. The RAS is discontinued in North America but not elsewhere I believe.
