Runner/Slide Recommendation

I am building a storage "draw" under the 1st floor steps.  It will be about 32" deep (front to back), will go from about 18" high on one side to about 30" high on the other (18" side is the "front"), and will be about 36" wide (side to side or deep under/into the stairs)...  I want to mount this "draw" on runners/slides so it pulls open/out from under the stairs.

I may be stupid, or blind, (yeah, like that has never happened  :-\ ), but I searched the web site of Blum and another manufacturer and could not find the type of runner/slide that I need.  Does anyone have a suggestion of who may have what I need or perhaps a way to resolve the problem?

You should find a cabinet supply place in your area, and go in there. A good one has all the hinges and slides set up. Then you can play with them, and the bonus is your brain will have all those pictures handy for future projects ;D. The only other thing I'd add is full extension, 100lbs plus.

Accuride 9301 heavy duty full extension slides would work well for what you want to do.They are available up to 60" and rated for up to 500 lb. at 18" width drawer. They cost over $100 to $150 for the length range you need.

Is it up high or on the floor?
If it's on the floor you could just put non-swivel casters on the bottom
and let waxed runners keep it "on track".

I'd agree with the accuride's.  The only caution is if you have long haired pet's , etc. the greased ball bearings can get gunked up and need a little periodic cleaning for good performance (they're exposed and easily contaminated with stuff).

Chris and Donald...,

The Accurides sound interesting.  I will head on over to their website to see what those 9301's are all about.

As for the pets...  Casey, I am saddened to say, is no longer with us.  He passed on to the kennel in the...wherever it is that beloved dogs go...

Michael,

As for the casters.  I had given them some thought, however, besides the extra few inches of lost capacity, this "drawer" (sorry I misspelled it in my original posting) will be "faced" with wainscoting on the outside so the "drawer" front is not noticeable.  The casters would not work in this configuration.  The tolerances will be too close.

Oh yes, the bottom of the "drawer" will hug the floor by resting on the runner/slides.

Don't forget to call Steve at A and H Turf to get a price on them.  They beat any body that I've found so far.  They don't always have everything you need but they are great.  I've been getting stuff from them for a couple of years now.

Chris...

I have similar plans with my basement stairwell (the stairs have been removed cause of a rental suite).

Please take pics of your progress if you don't mind.

Thanks
Dan

Chris, et. al...

I checked out those 9301's you recommended.  From the image available at A & H Turf, the 9301's look like they are side mounted.  What I need is something that is bottom mounted.

The ideal item would be something that I could attach one section to the floor and the other section to the underside of the drawer.

Does this make sense?

Dan,

I never thought to take progress shots.  Great idea!  Now, if I  can r.e.m.e.m.b.e.r... to take them.  :-\

Hi Dan
The 9301 slides can be mounted flat under the drawer platform but there is a large drop in their weight rating.I don't remember what the weight was but I used them this way in a large TV pull out I built for a client.
