Running two tools on CT at once

Has anyone tried this using the Y connector and two hoses, and running one of the tools off a different power outlet?  I hit a workflow issue today because I had to use the 1010 to flush trim while my assistant was working away sanding paneling with the ETS 150.

Two tools will run fine as long as you don't overload the electrical capacity of your outlet or CT. Remember that the CT will draw 1200W and the rest is split between your tools.

When most people ask this question they want to hook up two tools so they can easily switch between them. I think running two tools at the same time is really pushing it and should not be considered lightly. You'll also have half suction with each.

In your case I think it would be better to let the sander have the DC and do the routing without.

I'd find a cheap used CT Mini somewhere as extra vac.

Don't you have another shop vac? I remember seeing one in your shop pics.

Use the CT on the sander and your other vac on the router. You'll want the adjustable suction on the sander and won't need it for the router. You'll just have to reach down and flip the thing on. The Festool hose should fit a standard shop vac as well.

Ugh...I've already moved what seems like half my shop to the jobsite, so I'm not too keen on bringing over another unit, especially when I still need DE at home base.  Who knows, maybe I'll have a Mini by the time this build is over.  I think maybe we'll just assemble the stuff now and later on get an intern to sand them.  It's a 4x8 flat panel so it doesn't really make a difference where and when it's sanded.  Thanks for the advice.

I always use 2 sanders, or a sander and router off of my CT 36AC. I use a 3 way plug adapter and either tool controls the unit. However, if only using one tool while someone is in the restroom id recommend plugging that tools port.

It worked when you tried it yes? So then you're good.
What's the worst that can happen - you plug the hose, or trip a breaker. You're not going to damage the vac.

If you are thinking of another vac, skip the Mini and go for the Midi. I still regret that Mini purchase and I no longer have it. When the bag is only slightly full, the suction drops drastically rendering it useless for on site work. Any standard household vac would run circles around it while I was chasing that nail or small screw with the nozzle and it would not pick it up...

The Midi with long life bag has been a good experience. The Midi is light enough and I use it more often than I use the larger vac.

A good thing about the second a/c outlet on the CTL26 is that I can charge a battery or SYS Lite while running a powertool - or if all batteries are charged and I am not moonlighting I can always plug in a radio.
