I use Boeshield on cast iron tables such as the bandsaw or jointer. It produces kind of a waxy surface. On sliding surfaces such as router posts or Domino posts, I use DynaGlide Plus. It contains no silicone so it's safe to use in a woodworking environment.

Prior to reading this thread I was unaware of renascence wax. In looking up local vendors, I stumbled onto this comparison. Now I know that the application isnt a direct one (I don’t know anyone that would subject their tools to this kind of treatment), but since this thread was talking about “protection” and not lubrication, it seems that it may be of interest to others here
