Just finished up this rustic hickory built in...  Lots of WORK ! ! !  had to glue up all the doors panels, the sides of the cabinet etc... and I used dominos  for all the glue ups as they really help with alignment.

This was my design based upon what the customer wanted.. I stained the wood with golden pecan from minwax and lacquer brushed on several coats.

the glass doors are seeded glass.

Rustic hickory is a very had and heavy wood but was fun to work with  had to have the lumber yard go through lots of pieces till I found ones with the best color patterns to use, approx 350 board feet I used  and the wood was straight lined one side.. so I had to square it up and also plane it down several passes

enjoy

thanks boy we are both up in the middle of the night!  well back to watching diner dives and drives inns and then fall  asleep !  starting another built in today. back to basic white stuff... boring.... lol

Yeah, we sure are !! I'm on sketch-up laying out a cherry media room I have to get started  [big grin] ! Only I'm watching Deadliest Catch !! Hey man, the white stuff pays the bills too  ;)

I hate thumbnails  but your thumbnails are the worst kind!

U click on them and they increase in size by only 1mm.

What a great project. And executed to perfection. Really like that hickory look with all the colour variation. Ive just got the job of making two bookcases just like the dimensions of the two on either end, but 1200mm wide and white. Left a space about 1200mm in the middle of them on the wall for a desk to sit in. He is a real wine nut and all the bottom cupboards are for wooden boxes of wine. That middle wall cupboard arrangement would look great between my bookcases. A place for some glasses and some wine bottles on show. Great work as always!

Kreg,

You definately out did yourself on this one. Simply beautiful. I think Pecan/Hickory is the prettiest domestic wood we have here. Its harder the all get out. Last project I did with it was a kitchen. I made my doors and drawers, wore my 3 hp PC router out. Seriously, I had to go get the bearings replaced.

How did you handle the splintering? That was a problem for me.

Did you make the crown or have to custom order it.

You did a awesome job buddy

That's got a hunting lodge feel to it in my mind ... needs a bloodhound curled up in front of it  [smile]

Kev,

well at least ya didnt talk about a moose head hanging from the top of it

[big grin]
