I have RUWI equipment and love it. The fact that it is difficult to get it here in the USA is quite a bother. Here is a video of one of the many reasons I kove this stuff. Manor Wood has quite an interesting channel as well.

Maybe festool should buy them and add them to their work flow and product capacity. They work well together.

Replacing machined cast iron table with same size stamped steel (as in the video) seems like downgrading.

I believe Martin USA sells Ruwi products as does Felder. They may only sell products related to their lines but at a premium price. They also sell the Aigner extension tables that attach to the drill press jig with the F rail. While I use the Aigner extension tables all the time I would find it hard to justify the cost of the Ruwi Drill press accessories. Just don't use the drill press that much to justify an accessory that costs more then my actual drill press. Also it would be painful to drill into that table by mistake not so much with my Woodpecker table.

Well,  I want to like it but I'm having a difficult time.  [smile]  I think it's targeted more for the metal working market than the wood working market. For metal working you always want to clamp down the work piece to prevent the drill bit from grabbing and then spinning the work piece.

So, when using the vise, through-holes aren't an issue.

However, 80% of everything I drill (both wood & metal) need through-holes.  So I'd basically need to have the sacrificial wood top in place all the time. That then becomes a rather clumsy dance aligning the sacrificial top while also aligning the long fence.

Another issue is if you're using a sacrificial top AND the table extension then that's another awkward moment.

I think the 2 best features are the table extension and the ease in which the vise is held firmly in place on the table.

If I owned this, I'd be tempted to mill out a 4" x 4" square area somewhere in the metal top and insert an MDF filler block in it.  [big grin]  Then the issues I've mentioned would go away.

Through-holes in wood would be a breeze and using the table extension for through-holes would also be a breeze.

That's a slick setup.  Any idea of pricing for that ?
With the extension table, the cost is €737.80 with VAT (about $815.00).

Hello Mike, thanks for the info.  That's even more spendy  [eek] than I would have guessed.  That is the first time I have seen that Voyager drill press in a video.  That looks like a step up from my Grandfather's old drill press that I am using now.  [big grin]

View attachment 1  View attachment 2  This is my drill press table using 8020 15 series extrusions.  The vertical is their single sided 3" but if I needed to have top and front side slots I could use their 1530 or 1545 which would give me a 3 or 4.5" high fence.

I like that!  [thumbs up]

May have to copy it but rotate the fence and use some self tapping screws or similar to attach the L-brackets, avoiding the t-slots. Somewhere around here I think I've got some of that profile laying around...

My brackets are attached with 8020 button head screws so that it can be adjusted front/back and lengthwise, and to be able to remove and replace the vertical.  I keep a ball head allen driver attached to the drill head with a super magnet.  I use Kreg hold downs and keep two short and two long reach ones under the bench in a short piece of 8020.

Woah, what are those black cam clamp things?

Those are metal machining clamps that I bought from Grizzly, I have about a dozen.  I think they cost twice as much as when I bought them.

I like those cam locks. I will look for those. The RUWI slots are very useful. I use their layout on my MFT , a combination of slots and holes. As far as it being stamped steel as a negative. Their stamping are quite think. The RUWI spring clamps allow a great deal of adjustability. I am looking at getting this drill press and trying to get his table set up. I work with wood and metal, and like to have some interchangeability from machines and so on. I get my RUWI stuff direct from Germany, I wish I could get it in the USA. Remember those prices include the 19% VAT. Which is subtracted when imported. Maybe it is a good thing RUWI is harder to get. :)
