I am in the heavy sanding stage with my Maloof rocker. I have the RAS, which I have used to remove the wood from the seat and other areas, and the ETS 150 for finish sanding.  I used a bowl carving router bit to start the outline that I wanted to be the actual seat area and now I want to sand it and soften the hard line left by the bowl bit. Is there a sander with a thick flexible pad that would conform somewhat to the curves at this area as well as other curves that pop up on this rocker?

Did you try the softest pad (496145) offered for the ETS 150 along with a foam interface pad (496647) and thinly backed sandpaper?

No, I did not know about that and that would certainly be cheaper than a new sander (although I like buying new toys).

You can buy a Rotex if you don't already have one.  Just realize that pads are not interchangeable between the ETS and Rotex models because of different mount designs.  The interface foam pad is universal.
