Sanding brass?

I need to sand some 1.5" wide brass, and in the distant past used to go thru the grits up to 400, sanding longitudinally, then finishing with lacquer.

Anyone think using an RTS 400 would work, or would the swirls left by the orbital motion be too noticeable?

Why not just treat it like any other surface and sand it with progressively finer grits until your satisfied with the results and if necessary, switch to a linear motion to finish it off?

You can achieve a nice, "brushed" surface with the LS 130.
