Saw Dust with TS 55

I have been using my TS 55 with the dust extractor for some time.  It has worked great.
Recently, I have been seeing some dust around the workpiece that is unusual.  I emptied the dust bag (did not replace with a new one), the suction on the dust collector seems fine.  The splinter guard (green item on the saw) was loose and I tightened it.  Still some dust.
Any ideas????

I use a 36 mm hose with my TS55 and I have noticed the difference from when I just used the standard 27 mm hose.

You say that you emptied the dust bag rather than putting a new one on. I used to do this and it is a mistake as the fibres of the bag can get clogged. If you want to save money on bags either go for a long life bag or get an Ultimate Dust Deputy. At the very least, put a brand new bag on your extractor.

Check inside the port on the saw for debris.  If you don't see anything ...... tip saw on it's side to prevent anything from falling out and take the blade cover off. Clean out any debris that may be lodge inside.

Seth has a good point. I spent an afternoon cutting a lot of soft wood planks. They were a bit sappy and I did get a build up of sticky sawdust in the saw and the end of the hose.

Yup. Might even just be a larger splintery piece stuck. If everything else is good down the line, then it is likely a partial clog in the saw.  I find that tends to happen more when ripping with the panther blade since it produces larger stringy pieces from the cut. But could certainly occur with any blade.

Thanks everyone.  Yes I have the collector turned up all the way.  I will get a new bag and also check inside the saw for any debris that may be lodged within.
I will let you guys know the results.

Thanks,
Dave

I get a little when I cut close to the edge of a board, just like the table saw.

I do like the 36mm hose especially for tools like the TS. A little harder to deal with on a router but I like it there as well. The 27mm not only fits on the sanders but the sander is just the kind of tool that would not like 36mm even if it did fit.

Try hooking a bungee close to and parallel to the ceiling and hooking the 36 mm hose over that. It works really well with both the TS and all the routers.
