Can't claim credit for this one.

Saw a picture on a website (http://urbanhomecraft.com/studio/) linked from a blog I follow and thought eh, that's a good idea.

20 minutes with my Brother label printer later...

Now very easy to see screw size (mm and SWG), length (mm and inches) and type (PH, PZ, TX etc.) as well as which bit to use with it.

The boxes are quite popular in the UK (don't know about the US), but obviously you can also use with your Festool SYS Box-1.  [big grin]

The entire image you see was created in PowerPoint to give me layout flexibility. The screw graphics come from the Internet and were imported into PowerPoint. The whole image content was then copied and pasted into the Brother P-touch Editor software as a graphics metafile.

Very nice, thanks for the heads up. Didn't know you could do that with a P-touch.

Very cool.    I too use those cases for quite a few things, they are yellow And sold by stanley in two sizes  What is the source over there?

Nice labels Garry.  I like the top edge location  for them too. I used an older P-Touch. Straight up though with out your nice graphics.

You may have given me a reason to plug mine in after all these years!  [smile]

The only problem with me doing this is that most of the stuff I have in fishing tackle boxes I'm not sure what size they are  [embarassed]

Time to clean up my act and get with the program, nice stuff guys.

What kind of P-Touch model are you using? Is there also a special software needed (purchase)?

Thx,

Mark

It's a P-touch 2730 (PT-2730). The software comes with the machine and updates are freely downloadable from the web.

So, just ordered the P Touch too.

Makkus PM'd me to ask if I would share the PowerPoint file with the graphics and layout in them. Delighted to.  [big grin]

In the ZIP file attached is the PowerPoint file with each of the individual graphics for the screw head and types, and some pre-populated layouts on individual pages. All I do is "Copy All" (CTRL-A) on everything on the page, "Copy" it (CTRL-C) and then move over to the P-touch software and "Paste" (CTRL-V). Then resize to your label size and type.

I've also included the P-touch label file with an example in it for reference.

I've saved the PowerPoint file in the 97-2003 format so should work for most people, even if using a compatible program. I've also changed the font I used originally as it's not a standard one and wouldn't have worked for everyone.
