seneca adapter

Hello all I have the 500 and 700 domino. I have several guys in the shop that use these machines so I bought the Seneca adapter for 700 that way if I had guys needing to use a 6mm bit they would not have to wait for the machine to be free. My question is has anybody experienced the slots being to tall with the adapter? If I use a bit in the 500 the slot is tight but when I put the same bit in the 700 with adapter it's loose top to bottom this can be a real issue when trying to line up plywood panels. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Never had that issue. Have been using 700 with the plates for a long time. Is this on the tight bore or the looser one?  Or both.

I haven't tried the loose setting I would assume it's the same I'm going play around with it some this week and try and figure it out. If I use it without the adapter everythings fine doesn't hardly make since?

The slop is in the vertical direction is it not?  The thing I can think that would cause that is the adapter was not machine concentric to the threads. Changing the width setting is not going to fix your problem.

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking that the adapter is off just enough to cause this but I have not heard of anybody having this problem. I may contact Seneca and see what they say.

My 5mm bit is tapered so if it plunges farther than it could on the DF500. the mortise will enlarge. The 6 mm bit on the other hand has a square shoulder.

No offense, but maybe that is where it would have made the most sense to start.

I'm sorry you're having problems with our product.  This is the first time we've heard of anyone having this issue.  Are the mortises too tall when you use DF700 cutters on your DF700?  What about other DF500 cutters with our adapter on the DF700?    If you think there's a problem with your cutter adapter, or want to do some more troubleshooting,  send me an email (info@senecawoodworking.com) and we'll send you a new one.
