Do the fascia in a different color and it will change the look of the house. I would either go with a white or try “tawny amber by Dunn Edwards.” That will give the workshop a nice look try a small sample on a piece of scrap...

Funny you should ax about the color.
The Painter was out yesterday painted the shop/ fascia etc. The deal was it was supposed to match my house exactly.
So I axed the contractor who built my house what was the color scheme and where did he get the paint. He gave me the scheme. The contractor ordered the paint (said he had $1000 in paint and materials) so the painter started a painted the shop. Then we noticed it was the wrong color. It was the color of my neighbors house (the builder built something like 16 houses) so he must of gotten confused.

Anyway, Im not going to penalize the contractor for the builders mistake. It still looks good Im happy with it. He said the roofers and sparkys will be out this week to finish it (finally).  [thumbs up] .

There is another hiccup , the insulated roll up door is delayed with a 5 week back order. So the plan is for him to install a regular garage door to pass inspection ad get the cert of occupancy. The when the roll up is completed he'll come and install it.

Im on a med hold right now had surgery  on my right ankle. Its been hurting me for years and finally got it taken care of had a bone spur and a piece of bone that was rubbing on the tendon so I was hurting bad.

Any way I got a photo of the painted shop and my boot and wrap thats under the boot.

The photo of the shop is taken from a distance as I couldnt get closer wearing the boot on one foot and bare foot on the other.

So I plan on starting another thread when this is all over and I can start moving in on setting up my shop. It will be interesting to get peoples input and suggestions for the shop

That looks great! I got stuck in one of those boots for six weeks. The first day it really felt good and took a lot of the pain away but every day it got more and more tiring to wear. Real uncomfortable for me after the first three or four days. Good luck healing!

Its been only what 4 days since I had my surgery and I feel less pain walking around in this boot than I did before the surgery. It was really pain full I am feeling alot better. Its just the time it takes to heal up and get started in the new shop

All thats left for the shop build Is the door to be installed the elect hooked up (switches, outlets lights) Im going with 4 bright LED lights, should give me plenty of light. They filled the trench for the elect today.

So Im going to keep this thread going till the end. Im going to start another thread about setting the shop up. Should be fun to get everyones input.

Don't know what type fixture you selected or the square footage of your shop but four may not be enough.

My shop is a 2 bay garage space so about 580 SF with 10.5 foot ceiling. I bought 10 LED hanging shop lights which draw 48 watts for each fixture. I don't use them all at once but rather have three as general shop lighting and the other 7 located over tools or benches where I need additional light.

I found these at Lowes but similar fixtures should be available at most places. The price with 10% Military discount (under $40 each with tax) at Lowes was good I thought. I bought four at first then decided I liked them and needed more light so went back for 6 more. A month later I bought 8 more to replace the 30 year old fluorescent fixtures in the basement.

I got the "Koda" 4' LED shop lights from costco.  I think they were 19 bucks each.  I had just missed a sale on them so I got stuck paying full price but still happy.  So far (6-8 months) I really like them.  They are 4000k which is my prefered temp. They are motion controlled (adjustable sensitivity) with adjustments on how long they stay on (1,5 and 10 min. I think)  This works good in larger spaces so only the area you are working in is lit up  Works good, no more light switch to deal with just walk in the door or area and everything lights up.  You can daisy chain upto 6 together if your short on ceiling outlets.  They install easy as well several different mounting options and are super lightweight.  I used the flush mount which is just a clip you screw to the ceiling and the light snaps in.  It snaps in tight too no worries about them falling down.  They sell another brand too but they had some bad reviews so I went with the Kodas and haven't regretted it once.

I have 9 LED battens (strip lights) in my small (UK size) double garage workshop.

If you use LED and can choose the colour temperature....

I made a mistake at the start and chose a daylight temperature but was able to switch to a dual LED strip 4000K 5600 lumen which work really well.

I agree. I cant put them in until it passes inspection. Once I get the cert of occupancy Im going to install a lot of stuff included more outlets and circuits. I got to put them in before I insulate

Roofers came today, finished roofing the job. Had one female roofer I wouldnt want to mess with looked like she could whip my butt  [big grin]

Garage door guys came and left. Don't know what happened to them maybe they thought it was the wrong house bc of the color mix up, then electricians and that should be about it.  I should be able to call for final get the cert of occupancy and start moving in. This garage door is a temp door till my roll up gets here remember the doors are on back order
