Seems like many of us have Shaper Origins and since it is kinda sorta owned by Festool (TTS), it seems like it could have a separate forum to gather posts. For example, that's where I'd post about the new Studio lifetime upgrade since that tempts me more than the yearly

I think it would be a worthwhile addition, although I'm guessing TTS would prefer to keep it all on the Shaper Community and on Facebook.

True, but there are also Festool groups on Facebook (of which I'm a member) that are, um, lower-tier than FOG. Granted, I don't follow them as closely as the rigging and pole groups cuz Facebook is quite deprecated in my mind, but FOG+Shaper? oh, yeah, that would be top-tier Festool+Shaper combined.

And your point is well taken; I just think we, here, despite the site lagginess, would have infinitely more value than what I see on BoomerBook

Good points Paul & squall_line...but then the site lagginess would just become worse.  [eek]

Imagine an additional 10,000 folks dialing up the FOG for the latest Origin information.  [doh] [doh] [doh] [doh] [doh]

On a more serious side, I think Festool corporate has a difficult time putting their arms successfully around digital matters and issues.

I've obviously noticed the recent website lag issues and the tool registration issues, but has there ever been a Festool Friday segment where Sedge hasn't locked up or they didn't lose the audio during the broadcast?

I think digital is not in the Festool DNA...unfortunately.

And that worries me because the newer generation tools will have at least one foot in the digital domain.  [sad]

So, Marc Spagnuolo ([member=926]thewoodwhisperer[/member]) got me into woodworking; he was a Phoenix local at the time and I routinely had his live shop-feed on my second monitor. When he needed to upgrade to a better forum software, I offered to export the entire current site in a format he could re-import. He didn't want to do that for reasons that were relevant to his forum...

Now... if the FOG was like, "OMG, there are forum software sites that are 10-20+ years realtime (40-60+ Internet time) more advanced!" I'd offer my scraping capabilities to produce something importable into their new forum software system (but, do give me some advance info and time...)

Just a thought and offer (as I go into locked-at-home vacation mode so my day-joy employer doesn't get free unpaid work...)

I've tried to get into the Shaper forum, and something about the software leaves me flat. After a few visits, I'll forget to go there when I'm checking forums. Then I'll remember and visit a couple more times than forget again.

I would be in on a Shaper sub-forum here, if it happens.

And, no...Facebook groups are not the answer I'm looking for.

Not a fan of that software either.  its a bit confusing and convoluted to use

I thought it was just me? I really can't stand the format of the Shaper forum. I do try to stay connected, just so it doesn't die of loneliness. There are a few regular members, who respond rapidly. You definitely can get help there, it just doesn't feel like as much of a community as it does here.

I have checked with Festool who then checked with Shaper.  A separate designated Shaper area here will not be forthcoming.

That doesn't mean that discussions can't happen in the other tool areas though  [big grin].
