Shaper Workstation

We will soon be adding Shaper to our product offerings later this month, including the new workstation.

If you're not in a hurry, we would appreciate earning your order.

More info on the launch of Shaper on toolnut.com coming soon. Stay tuned.

pre-ordering the new workstation by March 31 includes a free special edition sys-1, think you will be ready for orders by then?

[member=8208]zapdafish[/member] yes, we expect to be taking orders before the end of the month. If you don't want to wait, certainly understand.

I almost pre-ordered before seeing this thread. I'll wait. The workstation looks really nice and will solve a separate problem so I don't need to build an overly-specific jig. I do hope the guy doing the videos describes his special spoil board and what he uses it for.

Is there any reason to order before the end of the month other than getting a special edition SYS-1? If it comes with a plain SYS-1 after that it's good enough for me.

The special Sys-1 is not even for the Workstation - just a sustainer with a foam insert and the Shaper logo on it.  The actual workstation is larger than a Systainer footprint.

I did pre-order this morning.  I've been really pleased with the Shaper and the progress they are making with software updates and things like the workstation and a great community of users.

As far as I understood the offering that 'free special edition sys-1' is for buying a shaper origin, not the workstation.

Nope. There was a link sent to Shaper owners (and perhaps others, not sure) in an email yesterday at 4AM ET, that link added the SYS1 to the cart @ $90 and also added a $90 discount.

I believe the only way to get the SYS1/discount was via the link in the email, but I may be wrong on this.

hrmm, this is  part of the email I got which I interpreted to mean I  get the free Sys-1 if pre-order from a dealer or if I click the button but now I see it can be interpreted the free sys-1 only comes by clicking the button.

Well, that time has come—you can now Pre-Order your Workstation and redeem your free SYS-1 by clicking the button below or placing a pre-order with any of our 70+ dealers.

The wording is confusing. I’d read it that you can order from dealers as well.

Someone on the shaper forum confirmed thru experience that the only way to get the sys1 was using the email link we received.

I am still not clear on what the significance of the SYS-1 is? The Shaper Origin comes with a Systainer. Will the workstation fit in the SYS-1 or is the special SYS-1 for something else.

Its a bonus, a specially branded sys-1 with kaizen foam insert that you can customize how you want, $90 value for free  when pre-ordering the workstation.

And the workstation does not fit in it. There is a cut file available on the Shaper Hub for relieving the foam to fit all the standard shaper do-dads and a selection of bits.

My theory is, since being acquired by Festool, there is a cultural predilection to provide systainers with everything...

OK, that clears it up. Thx.

No.

As of it being a giveaway the framing it as a discount is intentionally misleading and as of that (at least in sane jurisdictions) a banned form of advertising. No clue about the US, but stuff like this has a good chance to end in (lost) litigation when performed in the EU - as marketing overdid it with thinking it being a good idea to slightly overprice a toothpick* as an automatically added giveaway so they can claim to discount you more than the GDP of a first world nation* only if you buy now, quick hard enough that even the lawyers that write our laws were appalled enough to put a stop to it.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with them throwing in that thing as a gift - my issue is with the way they do it.

*) the item and the amount are irrelevant and exaggeration was used to illustrate this particular scam.

So how's that dealer setup going, [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] ? Next week's the last week for pre-orders and I'm definitely getting on the list. Would love to help out a dealer, tho (even you!  [tongue])
