Sharpening Domino Cutters

I cut dozens of mortises into Ipe using an 8mm cutter in my Domino XL and felt the cutter was getting dull toward the end of the project.

Who in the USA sharpens Domino cutters?

If it is sharpened, wouldn't the cutter diameter be too small?

From Rick's manual:
"► Never attempt to sharpen the mortising bits yourself. The mortising bits should be sharpened only by a qualified sharpening service.
► For best results, only the tip of the bit should be ground, not the sides.
► The maximum tip material removal from sharpening before the bit must be replaced is approximately 1mm. Any more than this and the bit will be too short for proper fit of the tenons."

I'd contact festool, they can probably help you out.

I would suggest contacting Burns Tools and check with them.  Not only are they a Festool dealer, but they are also well know for their sharpening services.  Also I believe that Tom Bayner (sp) has written about a service he has use for just this.  Maybe he will see this thread and comment.

Probably, with sharpening fees and shipping, a new cutter will probably be cheaper than getting to old one sharpened. Not so with my Forrest saw blades.
