Need to learn how to properly sharpen chisels. Whipped this little sharpening station up... I still need to apply some epoxy coat to make it water tight....

I like it. I've always had a vague idea in my head to build something similar, just too many projects in line first.

Sharpening equipment stored inside?

That’s what I thought first, but it looks like the „base“ is covering the complete Systainer, so it might be too big to fit inside.

I might steal this idea with the slight adaptation of the smaller plate, if possible. [emoji41]

Initially I thought about making the plate smaller but I have the sharpening guide etc. in the systainer. Guess could use a bigger Systainer to fit everything inside.... Food for thought..... The sharpening stones go in the systainer when not in use....

@Smartibartfass, how do you engage those green cleat in the second pic with both rows pointing out.
Does the panel that sits on top slide in from the side?

The cleats in the front (is the backside) lock like a systainer in the back of the systainer below.

The cleats in the back (front if turned upside) provide the lateral stability and everything gets locked down with the little wood nub when you turn the systainer lock....

Thought about it some more and making the plate smaller prevents it from locking on top.....The whole point of the exercise for me... Nothing rocks while sharpening...And the systainer stack with the Starrett plate for honing is quite heavy. The stack lifts the whole thing up to a nice work height if you put it on a MFT.... (at least for me, rather tall....).

Interesting idea.  Not clear how the systainer doesn't move around on your table?  Do you have bench dogs behind the systainer?

No, the Starrett granite plate in the lower Systainer for honing/lapping is heavy enough tp prevent movements....

Switched the upper Systainer to next larger size to fit in water spray bottle and misc stuff....
